Obama: I won't get as many endorsements because I haven't traded favors

CONCORD, N.H. -- Under a hot sun, Illinois Senator Barack Obama received the endorsement of New Hampshire US Representative Paul Hodes, the first endorsement of such a scale in the first-in-the-nation primary state.

Hodes, a freshman Democrat from Concord, said he was supporting Obama to empower the newly Democratic controlled Congress.

>

Obama said he was proud to have Hodes' endorsement, but conceded he would not have near the number of endorsements that other candidates, like Hillary Clinton will have.

"We haven't been in Washington all that long and we haven't traded that many favors," Obama said.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>snip

With endorsements not meaning anything or so they say...
When other candidates get them, it's said they're bought (or traded)
With all the talk by this candidate of big changes in how everything is done in DC....
Imagine....my.... surprise at his statement about having so few endorsements.

Politics as usual.
:eyes:

8. I try to stick to critiques of campaign strategy.

I attempt, sometimes unsuccessfully, to stay away from the "candidate
wars", because it usually isn't in me to brawl with people that I agree
with the vast majority of the time.

but, as a matter of campaign strategy, this is pretty smart. it probably
won't play in the general, should he win the nomination, because the rethugs
don't appear as though they are going to nominate a beltway insider.

Well, its' the hard truth. The Clintons were actually bullying some donors
You're either with us or against us. That's how they begun their campaign to strong-arm all the big donors. And sad for the Clinton campaign, some of the big time fundraisers were appalled by this bullying tactic and bailed on them.

Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 05:46 PM by Alamom

he says he hasn't been in Washington long enough to trade for many.......(Bold print/OP)

In making excuses for not having a load of endorsements, do we have
another fumble or is that how it's done in Chicago.

16. You refuse to answer
Even though we already know that Hillary got the endorsment of Darrell Jackson who she gave a $10,000 a month consulting contract to. And the endorsements of Mack and Alexander, who own components of Jackson's Sunrise Communications.

Once again, Obama points out the truth about Hillary, and you guys attack him for stating the truth.

Do you cry and agonize about why the country is all fucked up too??

19. Its the pattern of saying one thing but doing another.
"I don't trade favors for endorsements" while making his latest endorsee a campaign co-chair.

"I don't take lobbyist money" while taking state lobbyist dollars and money from lobbyists spouses.

"I represent a new politics" while calling Hillary Bush lite

24. You do realize she outbid Obama for Jackson's endorsement don't you?
A few days before that, Jackson was deep in negotiations with Steve Hildebrand, a senior strategist for Sen. Barack Obama's campaign. On the table was a contract worth in excess of $5K a month, beginning on 3/15/07. Separately, Obama was personally soliciting Jackson's endorsement.

Once again, Force of Good - 1, Team Smear-4-Obama - 0!

33. two years to 2009
eight years of Hillary after that. Ten years of junkyard politics. Ten years of nibbling at the edges. No real change in foreign policy, trade, labor, health care. Ignoring Darfur like we ignored Rwanda. A President who won't take any risks because their legacy is more important, just like Bill Clinton. More loss of rights because we won't have a President to stand up to the right. Smack in the middle of a right wing crap fest that got us George Bush the last time. That's the America you believe in.
