Pentagon Picks a Fight with Senator Clinton - Big Mistake!
In May Senator Clinton sent a private letter to the Secretary of Defense requesting more information on the planning for troop withdrawal from Iraq. She had asked that question several times in both open and closed hearings before the Senate Armed Services Committee and she had gotten a run around.
This week she got a written response from Undersecretary Edelman, a former Cheney lackey, accusing her of reinforcing enemy propaganda by asking questions about troop withdrawal. In a sharply worded letter to her, Edelman wrote,

Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia.
On Friday Senator Clinton responded by asking directly Secretary of Defense Gates if he agreed with his subordinate's position.

Rather than offer to brief the congressional oversight committees on this critical issue, Under Secretary Edelman, writing on your behalf, instead claims that congressional oversight emboldens our enemies. Open and honest debate and congressional oversight strengthens our nation and supports our military. His suggestion to the contrary is outrageous and dangerous.

"Her response in the video taken at the time of the editorial board visit is fascinating and instructive of how forceful and effective she can be."

1. Clinton is tough.
Say what you will about Hillary and Bill Clinton, but they are the only White House Democrats in my lifetime to survive the Republican attack machine. JFK - assassinated. LBJ - didn't run for a second term. Carter - one term. Gore and Kerry - elections stolen from them.

The Republicans threw absolutely everything they could at Bill and Hillary Clinton, but they survived. Clinton won reelection. They're still here. Clearly, they know how to withstand the Republicans.

3. We KNOW she isn't going to cave
This is her big chance. She isn't going to give it away. They are going to have to take it from her.

would be bad and it is a valid point. However, we need to get this country straightened out and it will take years. What we need are brains, expertise and the ability to be welcomed globally. These cancellations of Condi Rice, Gates and Bush. Perhaps they're not cancellations, perhaps they were either not invited or something else. We, of course, will never know the real reasons but to get back to my point, Hill and Bill fit the bill!! Geez, I just made that up..

7. If Hillary Clinton had not supported the authorization of the Iraq war
in the first place, she would have sent the letter in the first place! She is one of the reason we are in this mess and she still won't admit it. C'mon people, wake up! She sent that letter as CYA for her to appease you. She playing supporters for votes and it's working. You want a Prez who won't admit that she was right or wrong on this and totally blames Bush for this war, like she did not have a part in this.
