3. Yeah, but yesterday I saw a cable news report about her and Obama
calling them "an unbeatable duo?"

4. IMO, there's been too many bridges burned to make such partnerships.
Sad, but so very true. ;)

10. A Clinton/Obama ticket would be powerful, for sure.
Edited on Thu Jul-12-07 05:37 PM by PBass
I'm hoping that if Hillary really is the Dem nominee at the end of the day, that she picks Obama for VP. I know that would be tough for the hardcore Obama (and Edwards) fans to swallow, but it sets up a later Obama presidential run quite nicely. ;)

8. If they were backdoor deals would the comment have been made up front?
I'll watch and see. Maybe they're going for a kinder, gentler primary process.

But of course they didn't know they were on live mics.

13. I can't listen. I need a transcript.
I'm just going by the headline.

I'm at work. No speakers.

6. Can anyone tell what they're actually talking about?
I can only pick up a few words every now and then - and then you hear her say, "our guys should talk." But in reference to what?

about stuff about the campaign, about their staffs doing stuff to each other...

24. I think talking about limiting certain candidates
be included in the debates. At one point Hillary says "They are being trivialized", and "our campaigns at one time tried to do something." Least that's what I got out of it.

28. I can't make out what they're saying
Like you I just caught a few words and, frankly, I don't trust what the various media are reporting about what was said.

12. I am no fan of Hillary's but, I saw the video and I doubt it was anything sinister
Dennis Kucinich and Barack Obama were around a bit to shake hands and Edwards and clinton made no move to disguise their conversation. it had to have been heard enough by both to know if it was plotting or not.
Given that I have doubts it is anything bad.

That would pretty much put Obama out of the picture.

I don't think it was much of anything. Much ado about nothing.

16. Oh please, does anyone here seriously think that if the two
candidates were plotting something, they'd do it in front of a microphone with the other candidates in ear shot?

25. After reading this morning's LBN, I stand corrected.
Hillary has a habit of not debating people who might challenge her vague responses to questions. (Google Tasini, 2004 New York State Primary)

27. Only HC's mike was still 'on'
It's why Edwards is hard to hear, but she comes in loud and clear.

17. this could be about anything
at all. A few snippets of conversation, spoken at normal level with lots of people around. There's nothing sinister going on.

19. If Faux news was telling the truth, I kind of know what they were saying,
I was channel surfing and lingered at Britt Hume's show (ugh) because they were showing a bit of Congressman Joe Sestak's speech. Then they suddenly switched to showing Gravel going after Hillary for her husband's role in bringing us NAFTA.

Then they show John Edwards approaching Hillary and much of the conversation was close-captioned.
I will now paraphrase what was said:

Edwards told Hillary that there were too many people on stage and they should limit future debates to the top tier serious candidates. Hillary agreed and said she had been working on it, but so far, no luck.

Perhaps the video is up at the Faux News site if anybody has the stomach to go there.

This also strikes me as something Tucker Carlson would like to get his hands on.

20. IF this is true it disgusts me
as I see it as the "top tier" candidates wanting to avoid some of the uncomfortable subjects the "bottom tier" has been bringing up.

23. Just reading between the lines
as some of the lower tier hasn't minded pointing out a few of the warts on the top tier.

Isn't this similar to what the Republicans are doing to Ron Paul?
