Latest Rasmussen: Hillary beating Rudy, widened the gap between her and McCain
Its only a point but the last Rasmussen had Edwards now tied with Rudy after leading him much of theis year and Obama is about 3 pts behind in their latest poll (please note that Rasmussen still hasn;t updated his big board and shows the poll with Obama down 12 pts to Rudy)

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/clinton_44_giuliani_43

"The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) virtually even in their race for the White House. This month, Clinton nominally leads the mayor 44% to 43%. Last month, it was Giuliani by a single point. As recently as March, Giuliani could claim a double-digit lead over Clinton but he lost that lead in April and the match-up has been a toss-up ever since.

Perceptions about Clinton her already strong and fairly set as the campaign began. In fifteen polls dating back to December, Clinton’s favorables have stayed in a very range from 47% to 52%. During the same period, her unfavorables have stayed between 46% and 51%. She is currently at the high end of that range, viewed favorably by 52%, unfavorably by 46%. Among Democrats, Clinton is viewed favorably by 84% and unfavorably by 13%.

Clinton has the highest level of base support and opposition among any candidate in the field. Twenty-eight percent (28%) say they will definitely vote for her if she is on the ballot in 2008 while 46% say they will definitely vote against her.

Despite an unexpected and strong challenge from Illinois Senator Barack Obama, Clinton remains the Democratic frontrunner and has even increased her lead in national polling over the past several weeks. Clinton trails Obama in the fundraising category, but both leading Democrats are far ahead of everybody else when it comes to financial support."

She is now up 9 on McCain who likely won't be in the race much longer.

1. Agree that McCain's days are numbered. I think any of our
people can whip him and whip him good.

His periodic tirades coupled with his idiotic support of Bush's surge have tied him in permanent knots. No more than a dim flicker of the old maverick remains in the man's heart and mind and spirit. The McCain campaign is dangling aimlessly like a busted latch on a crapper stall. He's out of there.

We have to work very hard and press our advantage to the maximum possible outcome, but at this point, I think the Democrats will gain seats in both chambers and there'll be blue balloons in the White House as well.

McCain could have been a contender. But he went kissy-kissy with the Bush administration, and it has cost him both the presidency and his soul.

Nobody shoved you into the sewer pit, Mr. McCain. You jumped.

2. He spent $21M and all he has to show for it are plunging polls numbers and staff layoffs.

Exactly. When I post polls that show us beating the GOP, its not so we rest on our laurels but so that we know it CAN be done.

3. Hi, rinsd. My sleeves are rolled up and I plan to help you
and others win big in Nov. 08.

I think it's time to take the GOP out to the woodshed and instruct them on a few basic points of a constitutional republic.

4. Clinton has been maintaining her lead in many polls, while ex-maverick
McCain has fallen.

Plus the reports have him with about a buck fifty in his pants pocket -- not likely enough to finance a presidential campaign, especially with multiple-choice Mitt throwing more and more millions at his own coffers daily.

It will not be especially easy to oust Senator Clinton from her frontrunner status. But John McCain is a walking corpse at this point. Someone bring the hymnal and let's give the McCain campaign a proper burial.
