Obama pushes back on expectations
The Obama campaign, unthrilled by the wave of speculation that he's going to blow Hillary out of the fundraising water, is now pushing back.

I've obtained, from a source close to the campaign, a set of the campaign's talking points, which are circulating internally, on Clinton's alleged fundraising strength.

It's under the heading "The Top Ten Reasons…Hillary Clinton Will Raise Double What She Raised Last Quarter."

They include everything from the claim that Clinton is hosting "as many as twice as many events this quarter" to Bill's deep involvement.

1. I bet the Clinton campaign is the one speculating about Obama's numbers
Nice strategy. I'm glad the Obama camp is responding.

From that early madrassa nonsense to McCain to this.

2. This is just a game
being played by both sides and is very typical. No use getting excited about any of this until the final figures are in.

3. The Obama campaign is keeping that story away with a 10 ft pole
They're trying to distance themselves because from it because it may not be true. It wasn't a very strong story from the Huffington Post anyway...

Rovian means nothing when the "Big Dog" is giving lessons..

If the "Big Dog", thinks Obama will out-raise Hillary, then it gives me paws!

The expectations game?

Its the standard on two aspects of politics, fundraising and debates.

15. Not according to the LA Times: "HC Enjoys Renewed Hollywood Clout"
Hillary Clinton enjoys renewed Hollywood clout
An early infatuation with Obama's candidacy appears to be fading among the ex-first lady's Hollywood supporters.
By Tina Daunt, Times Staff Writer
June 8, 2007

It's starting to look like Hollywood's infatuation with Sen. Barack Obama was just a flirtation before it settles down with its longtime girlfriend, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Most of Hollywood may lean Democratic, but the direction of that inclination can be as fickle as the Santa Anas. During the last presidential election, some people changed their mind five times before they settled on Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.).

And, as it is with everything in this world of glitz, candidates — like celebrities — benefit from buzz.

So here's the buzz these days: Clinton's presidential bid has begun to regain momentum over Obama's in the entertainment industry.

In fact, it's become so strong that Steven Spielberg, once considered a solid supporter of Illinois Democrat Obama, is now believed to be leaning in favor of Clinton, according to longtime industry politicos. (Spielberg's political spokesman, Andy Spahn, was coy this week when asked about Spielberg's political thinking. "We have nothing to announce," Spahn said, but stay tuned.)

They could post on DU for me or something. Hmmm . . .

Good catch, though, I didn't catch that it was specifically a *political* spokesman when I first read it.
