Poll question: If Gore enters the race, will you support him over your current choice?
This is NOT a poll about your current 08 favorite. It is a purely speculative poll asking this one simple question:

If Al Gore enters the race, can you see yourself supporting him over whoever it is you now support?

In hopes of keeping this thread sane, PLEASE .... do NOT name your current favorite.

Sorry, polls are turned off at Level 3.

1. Maybe. I haven't given it much thought, since I have been working off my prediction
that Gore will not run.

2. Gore has been running for president off and on since about 1992.
I figure it's time to give someone else a chance. I would like to seee Gore as head of EPA.

Just for the sake of accuracy. He'd probably be a better President than anybody else running, although Kerry would still be a better President than Gore.

If he doesn't run, then I'll go with whomever the nominee is.

6. I already voted for him once. He didn't seem to care.
During the Florida fiasco, the two people who did exactly what the Republicans wanted them to do were Gore and Lieberman. I don't vote for people who capitulate to Republicans.

13. I like Gore as a man...but were he the nominee, we'd lose--
the next GOP nominee won't be a frat-boy moron. If it's McCain or Rudy, he'll lose outright--they are much brighter, more likeable and better-spoken than Bush, and if Hagel/Bloomberg runs Indy, the war won't be an issue, and Gore's military service won't be as much of an advantage. Bad idea.

14. I believe that Al Gore would be a great Prez and would vote for him
in the primary if he were to run. I would not consider voting for any other candidate in the primary other than my current choice, except for Al.

I believe it is important that we nominate a candidate that a substantial majority of us can get behind, and think Al is that candidate. He is a genuine "big tent" candidate, having genuine appeal to most Democrats, as well as many Independents. IMO, he would be the only candidate that could actually generate enough unabashed enthusiam to "herd the cats" into an unstoppable stampede.

It's a win-win situation all around: Al would get nominated, subsequently get elected, and we'd have a talented, intelligent, compassionate, and experienced President.

Very good poll, thanks.

The only person who could make me reconsider, at least at this early stage, would be Russ Feingold.

18. I view Al Gore as the most qualified person the Dems could run
If he were to declare, I'd back him...but I'd worry that the 2000 selection,
which the Dem leadership has ignored as a coup d'etat, would distract
from talking about our current problems. I also wonder whether Gore
really has the fire to go the distance on another presidential race.

23. Good Question.
It drives me nuts when people infer that because we are satisfied with the announced candidates that it's impossible to have a favorite not announced.
