Bill Richardson set to officially launch presidential bid in L.A.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who has been campaigning for weeks for the nation's highest office, plans to announce Monday in Los Angeles that he is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination.

Richardson, who was born in California and lived there briefly, will make his announcement at the Los Angeles Press Club. Aides to the governor said the backdrop will be several Hispanic leaders, underscoring Richardson's Hispanic heritage and the importance of California's Feb. 5 primary.

3. Color me confused but how many announcements do these guys get.

I thought he did announce--sort of--on the Daily Show and did a kind of cute schtick about the hints that you're running, the announcement before the announcement, the real announcement and then the real official announcement.

I guess this is the real, official, bands and buntings and happy screaming supporters announcement.

Well, good. I like Richardson. Can a portly Hispanic guy become President of the United States? We'll see.

They're great. I doubt if his campaign could afford CA market rates, but if they aired there they would go over very well, I think.

They get the point across without hitting you over the head. Most importantly they got attention beyond the area they were aired. He also did very well on the Tonight show.

His numbers have jumped quite a bit in IA and NH because of them as well.

I hope he keeps it up. I'd love to see someone from the 'lower tier' break out.
