Tokyo Rose - Latest From the Freepers - Can you Believe this?
This was just e-mailed to me!!

The other night we watched a movie called, "Flags of our Fathers."
During the movie, I pointed out the radio broadcast of "Tokyo Rose."

She had the best music on her station. During World War II; the
Japanese developed a way to demoralize the American forces.
Psychological warfare experts developed a message they felt would
work.

They gave the script to their famous broadcaster "Tokyo Rose" and
every day she would broadcast this same message packaged in different
ways. The Japanese hoped it would have a negative impact on American
GI's morale.

What was that demoralizing message? It had three main points:

1. Your President is lying to you.
2. This war is illegal.
3. You cannot win the war.

Does this sound familiar today?

It is because we are being bombarded by Tokyo Hillary, Tokyo Harry,
Tokyo Teddy, Tokyo Nancy, Tokyo Murtha, etc.,and they have picked
up the same message and are broadcasting it on Tokyo CNN, Tokyo ABC,
Tokyo CBS, Tokyo NBC, etc., to our troops.

The only difference is that they claim to support our troops before
they demoralize them. Come to think of it, Tokyo Rose told the troops
she was on their side, too.

3. So this was posted by a freeper who is fighting in Iraq?
There has been a form of this floating for a couple years.
IIRC, Tokyo Rose ended up with a medal for actually aiding Americans?

8. Have written about and done great deal of research on her
When the war was over she actually thought she was going to be greeted as a heroine by the Americans not tossed in Sugamo Prison. The late and no so great Walter Winchell was the one who got her busted. Another freeper of his day.

There were GIs who testified on her behalf at her trial. This was anotehr travesty of justice!!!

4. Tokyo Rose was actually several women
Iva Toguri happened to be visiting relatives in Japan when the war broke out, and she was dragooned into broadcasting for the Japanese military.

When the Americans conquered Japan, they picked Toguri out as a scapegoat.

7. "The Japanese developed a way to demoralize the American forces" - NOT!!!
Our WW2 troops recognized propaganda for exactly what it was, they NEVER were "demoralized" by Tokyo Rose.
Our Iraq war troops recognize propaganda too, and they're not about to be demoralized by Tokyo Rove.

9. There was no one Tokyo Rose
It was an amalgam of broadcasters - having spewed the freeper lies about the War, which Freeper has the credentials to make this kind of comparison?

Not one.

Anyone who ever had the "pleasure" of hearing "Tokyo Rose's" Vietnamese successor, Hanoi Hannah, in the summer sweat of An Loc knows what bullshit these comparisons are.

They are the comparisons of cowards and clowns.

In other words, freepers - people who don't believe in either freedom or the Republic.

14. I read that there really was just one Tokyo Rose.
I read an article about her life, as I recall. It had her real name and all.

Of course, the difference between the alleged facts in the despicable e-mail and the current situation is:

Tokyo Rose was a member of the opposing forces, doing and saying what she was paid to do and say.

Murtha and others involved in objecting to the current war, OTOH, are well respected American citizens, some of whom have honorable war battle records, and many of whom are well respected officials elected by millions of American citizens.

15. Another difference tween Tokyo Rose and current situation...
is there was one Tokyo Rose.

In the current situation, the objectors make up over 50% of the citizens of the country.

Another difference...Tokyo Rose was, in fact, stating the position of the government that was conducting the war. She wasn't opposing her own government.

It's the drum beaters who are getting paid to beat the drum that you have to watch out for.

16. I looked it up. My error....she was convicted of it, but later pardoned.
Guess I didn't remember correctly the article I read. A woman was tried and convicted of a crime that meant, really, she was the person Americans called Tokyo Rose, but she was later pardoned by President Ford. Interesting story.

10. Shame on whoever wrote that.
Take your political gamesmanship and stuff it, Freepers.

Comparing Americans with whom you have political differences to enemies from wars past?

Equating policy disagreements with subversion and treason?

I believe you have let your partisanship take precedence over your patriotism.

Shame, shame.

12. Tokyo Rose was lying, however we are not. That is why our
country is broken, the closer that we get to truth, the further away from the Whitehouse we get. It's a f***ing tragedy with some very large ramifications for the Republican party's future.

Just because Tokyo Rose lied doesn't mean everyone who criticizes the President is lying. The whole argument is just inductive fallacy. Stupid people buy it, we the people do not.

Poor poor shrinking mass of stupid people. They're desperate, ignorant, out of touch with America, and utterly more and more irrelevant every passing day.

13. Shame the republicans have to resort to this type of thing isn't it.
What gets me is, do you see the democrats stooping that low. Do you see them, as Olbermann said, spewing crap about the republicans responsible for 9/11 everytime they come on TV. Do you see the democrats yelling that the republicans don't know how to protect us and on and on and on. No that is the type of rhetoic that rove makes up and sends out talking points on.

The most dirtest, low down propoganda that they can think of they use to try to smear democrats. The whole republican party is a bunch of slime balls and thats a fact.
