Well, so much for editing skills. :)

I came across this today.
http://www.rockridgeinstitute.org/research/lakoff/incompetent

The conservative philosophy has three underlying tenets: individual initiative, aside from military and police functions government should have minimal positive effect on our lives; the president is the moral authority; the free market can provide us all with freedom and opportunity. In the conservative view the Katrina aftermath was the fault of the victims, the take over of the Supreme Court and the justice department are triumphs, and wages are what they are, no need to raise them, folks can just go work some place else, and the degradation of our protection laws is "good for business". They even see Iraq tragedy as a successful venture. Bush has said he knows quite well what invading Iran will do, inflame and unite the Iranians against us. In their view they all have done quite well for themselves.

I do disagree, somewhat, with Lakoff's calling these people conservative. They are ravening ghouls preying on our society, our people. They have reduced the word conservative to a particularly nasty epithet, an obscenity.

Many of you may have already seen this article, but I believe it is important for more and more of us to know the real faces of the enemy. Their so called conservative philosophy is nothing but a mask for their essential evil natures.

1. Other than the incredible public embarrassment
that their puppet/leader has turned out to be, they have been very successful. But, to this administration, not to mention the real power behind the throne, American citizens are as irrelevant as "old Europe."

Knit (and snoop) on, mon amie!

4. Merci, madam.
I do needlepoint, but if Bush is impeached, or even if his bogus conservative philosophy becomes generally known for the lie it is, I'll learn to knit. So help me, God.

2. they are incompetent, though not in the way you might think
it is certainly correct to say that they have achieved many of their aims. the "incompetence" part comes in being so starkly obvious in their motives and in their modus operandi.

simply put, they are unable to make what they do look good. every politician does somethings that are ugly, and presidents especially so. but they usually manage to make it all seem like a good idea.

this administration is simply not capable of doing what it takes to make america as a whole buy their crap.

just as an example, they wanted to purge justice. fine, they did what they wanted; but the alberto gonzamess all happened because they put an incompetent in charge of justice. a better politico might have salvaged that situation.

5. unblock, I certainly agree with what you say.

Their success, to date, is a sad commentary on the American people. But faith springs eternal. We may not have survived worse, but we very well have the abilities to survive this.

8. indeed, the imcompetence may ultimately be a blessing in the long run
his incompetence has exposed the inner workings of corporate governance, lobbying, political hackery, etc.

the public might not be willfully blind much longer.

3. This is the culmination of policies and propaganda
That were put in place after WWII. The secret government started then too, and the US is no longer a truly democratic country, if it ever was.

6. We have always been under attack by monied interests.
The character of the American people seems to flirt, quite dangerously, with their bogus philosophies. In many respects we are power groupies. So far we have survived, tattered, but viable.

"Democracy needs to be an organic, homegrown movement, as it was in this country. If we believe so deeply in our ideals, they will speak for themselves and inspire others."

"Joe Biden recently said, “if I had known the president was going to be this incompetent in his administration, I would not have given him the authority .” Had Bush actually been incompetent, he would have never been able to lead us to war in Iraq. Had Bush been incompetent, he would not have been able to ram through hundreds of billions of dollars in tax cuts. Had Bush been incompetent, he would have been blocked from stacking the courts with right-wing judges. Incompetence, on reflection, might have actually been better for the country."

9. True words.
They shine a light on our "democracy" attempts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they are pathetic.

12. Medicaid in Colorado reimburses at something like minus 23% in some areas.
I'm not sure how universal that is....but it says a lot. A Republican acquaintance said it is important to get in with a young physician because so very many practices are closed to new Medicare patients. I do know that if a Medicare senior moves here, finding a doctor is difficult, if not impossible. But, what the hey, it is one one way to cut costs.

13. The bu$h administration are predators, sociopaths...
...murderers, robber barons, and terrorists - they are PART OF THE PROBLEM. In many ways they are THE problem.

I'd be EMBARRASSED to be called a "conservative" these days. They ain't what they used to be. Nowadays, they're just EVIL.

15. Just a modest little kick for a new day.
I no longer think of Bush in dismissive terms. He knows exactly what he is doing, he is confidently executing the plan to destroy our democracy, our republic. His goal is American Empire, total world domination.
