2. A lot of people don't know this, but he actually is the guy who invented gravel.
Back when he was a kid, you either drove on dirt or you drove on streets or you were stuck in the mud. Nothing else. Then one day Mike said "enough!" or as they say in his native Barcelona "Ya! Basta!" And soon he was spreading a fine layer of pebbles and seashells over dirt driveways around the Last Frontier and earning his millions.

5. A great Democratic hero
You wouldn't know it from what is posted on DU. This is a man who read 4100 pages of the Pentagon Papers into the Congressional Record so the public would know about it and filibustered Nixon and the Draft for FIVE FUCKING MONTHS. This is a Democrat of great courage. We should only have more like him today.

7. You're right. I shouldn't joke
about him based on his current campaign. He was a hero both in limiting the worst kind of nuclear testing and a hero in helping end the Vietnam war. His current campaign and his views on social security and sales taxation are peculiar, but he has done much good in his long career.
