As I see it there a number of different issues thrown up by this situation:
1) How the Iranians treated the detainees 2) Comparing this to how America/The Coalition treats detainees 3) The behavior of the the British sailors/marines (which I think was exemplary) 4) The behavior of US & UK officials in dealing with the crisis 5) The operational procedures of the British Navy (and if they were negligent)
Once we untangle these different levels I think we (i.e. DUers) will be able to agree on much more about this situation.
Let's just move on to opening talks that divide Britain from the Iranian war adventure and Iran spoiling Bush's gameplan with a peace pretext that has nothing at all to do with his bullying or desires.
The rest is small potatoes if they can move the inevitable war out from under Bush.
