Somebody should ask Bush why the performance standard for US attorneys seems to be SO much higher than it is for Attorney General.

How come Lam, Iglesias, and McKay, for instance, can get fired even though they have been lauded for the work that supposedly hasn't been up to par -- and yet Gonzales, no matter how much he screws up, gets a pass?

Don't Attorney Generals serve at the pleasure of the President? What does it take to get one canned?
