4. IMO writing in a candidate's name during the primaries isn't a wasted vote.

You're simply voicing your opinion as to who you believe should be the nominee. It's Democrats vs. Democrats at that point.

6. I disagree. my vote is too important. I will vote edwards if gore doesn't run,
and obama if edwards doesn't have a chance. I would only write in if there were a write-in surge so huge that Gore could actually win. Not saying what you should do. But I fight really hard for the right to vote, and I wouldn't want to let other people decide without my participation. if i write in a candidate, it will be others whoa re participating in the decision making process, not me. I can see doing it if the decision was between candidates you absolutely cant stand. then you are casting a protest vote, but not a vote which will go towards deciding who wins.

2. I don't think anyone will have to write it in. It is going to be printed on the ballot along
with the rest of 'them'...

16. What part of "not going to run" dont you get?
I mean c'mon. I would love him to run too. But let's just face the fact that HE DOESN'T WANT TO RUN.

3. Usually it's already decided

....by the time I get to vote, so I might.

Last time Kerry had already had it, so I voted my heart....Dean.

Cheers

5. I'll be writing in John Kerry, unless
PA changes its primary date so that it will matter toward the nomination.

7. Does a write-in vote matter, though?
What if overwhelming numbers of voters did write in Gore in the Primaries? So that he actually got more votes than anyone "officially" running? Would it have an effect? Would he then automatically get (or at least be offered) the nomination?

Just wondering.

8. Yes.
My friends uncle ran for judge and, for whatever reason, was precluded from having his name officially printed on the ballot. His campaign, therefore, centered around getting people to write his name in. I believe he came in 2nd or 3rd.

9. My question is, if he had come first...
...would he have won and been elected to the post? Even though he was a write-in?

I'm pretty set on voting Kucinich in the Primaries, because I really don't think Gore will run - but if a massive write-in campaign has a chance, I'd seriously have to consider it.

14. Why continue campaigning if the answer was no?

13. If Clark doesn't run, yes.
My dream ticket is Gore/Clark. As of right now I will write in Gore, but if Clark jumps in he'll get my vote. If Gore AND Clark jump in, I'll have to vote Gore . Sorry Wes!!!

17. By then it will be too late
On Monday November 5th there will be less than one year to go before the general election.

If Gore hasn't jumped in by then, it will be time for me to find another candidate to support.

But until that day comes, I will continue to pray for a miracle! :)

That is unless Gore (a) endorses someone else or (b) makes a "Shermanesque" statement.

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :patriot:
