CRAZY 2 a.m. idea about a 2008 Senate Race (New Mexico)
Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame are moving (have moved?) to Santa Fe. What if New Mexico encouraged Joe to run against Domenici?!? You suppose Joe W. could unseat the old bastard (should he decide to run again)?

1. Will Domenici last to the New Mexico primary?
Hope not

2. I don't know
I think this idea occurred to me just before all this US attorneys issue broke, so maybe he'll go down over it. Nevertheless, could you imagine how SWEET it would be for Joe Wilson to end up in the Senate -- a very powerful position!

3. Does New Mexico have strict residency requirements?
The Constitution is mum on it, but don't some states require a minimum residency before you can run for Senator?

6. I thought of her first
But I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that being a former spook, she'd not want to subject herself to the insane public scrutiny government officials have to face. Had nothing to do with her gender or anything else at all. She'd probably be terrific.

8. U.S.Attorneys-gate
Domenici is involved in the firing of the U.S. Attorneys and I read that he had lawyered up. I think that "on due reflection" he will decide not to run in 2008.
