Am I The Only One Here Who Loves Ann Coulter?
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 08:15 PM by Van23
Not because I agree with her. I think she's vile, obnoxious, and a miserable excuse for a human being.

That's why I want to have a microphone shoved in her face whenever she opens her mouth. She's the best friend liberals and progressives can have. I want her to be identified in the public mind as the face of American conservatism!

Elections are won by wooing "swing voters" --those who may lean to the left or the right, but who aren't necessarily ideologically wedded to a particular side. Extremism in any form turns off these voters. Coulter speaks to the ideologically rigid who wouldn't vote for a progressive or Democrat under any circumstances. She's preaching to the choir and alienating everyone EXCEPT those we shouldn't bother trying to convince in the first place.

So, I say we let her spout her crap as much as possible in front of the largest possible audience. Progressives should encourage it! She's the best friend we have.

1. Sure, but . . .
When the first nutjob decides to harm another person because of something he said, that's when it ends.

("He" was completely deliberate, and this is coming from another woman.)

4. I agree, every time I remind my repub nutjob
friends that people like Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly and Hannity are the face of their party, they cringe. They are doing more damage than anything. All they do is rally the base but they are driving moderates and independents to our side. Limbaugh delivered McCaskill to the Senate. I am convinced of that. Coulter will boost Edward's numbers. Thanks guys, keep it up.

5. Believe it or not, some folks vote for politeness
And they are turned off by rudeness. Coulter does us a favor when she acts like she does and none of the publicans distance themselves from her.

7. She makes their normal repugnancy acceptable
In a sane world, the regular shit Republicans say would invoke outrage. But with people like Coulter and Limbaugh and O'Reilly, their regular shit goes right under the radar.

"No public denouncement would convince me they intend to change. In fact, it’s insulting to even give them the opportunity to apologize, as many times as they’ve proven this is their preferred modus operandi. Haven’t they used up their three strikes by now? The sorry fact of the matter is, Ann Coulter’s remarks are the ripples Republicans send out into the world. It’s What They Do."

8. Her supporters think she's so clever...
...and she shares that opinion. Never mind that her argument right now is classic 3rd-grader: "I didn't call Johnny Edwards a weiner-head, I only said 'I won't call you a Weiner-head because I'll get in trouble. Nyah Nyah Nyah!'"

Remember folks, it's not that difficult to piss people off. Just find a forum where you can't get punched in the face, and just say the worst thing you imagine someone could possibly say about yourself. Then say you're joking! Joking makes all it OK!

Whatever Anne's official job is, it could easily be done by a computer program with "liberal" "terrorist" and "fag" entered into a random word generator. Let's not give her any more credit than she deserves.
