AL GORE, Gets Hand Counted Paper Ballots and WINS!!
By Mary McNamara, Times Staff Writer

A few years ago, a blogger claimed to have hacked into the PricewaterhouseCoopers computers and discovered, days before the Academy Awards ceremony, the Oscar winners. The reaction at the firm was one not usually associated with accountants — laughter.

"We knew it wasn't true because the Oscar tallies never even go near a computer," says Bradley Oltmanns, managing partner, Los Angeles office, and one of two men overseeing this year's balloting process.

In fact, anyone looking for real voting reform for the next presidential election need look no further than PricewaterhouseCoopers' downtown L.A. offices. It takes 12 staff members 1,700 man hours to count the nomination and final ballots by hand, but when they are done, there is no question of hanging chads or duplicitous computer programs. PricewaterhouseCoopers (which added the Coopers in 1998) has been doing this for 73 years and the people involved know that even one mistake and, sterling reputation notwithstanding, they're toast.

So Oltmanns can dispel the occasional rumor that a winner did not really win. Should a mistake ever be made in announcing a winner, one of the company's two representatives backstage would immediately inform the stage manager.

Just have them play me off the stage.

"Paper ballots! Thank you, and I also want to thank the Academy".

GREAT catch, kster.

7. Check this out, Hand Counted Paper Ballots from an UNLIKELY source ...
If you listen to the report at this link, Texas has had several state races recounted by hand under a law signed in 1997 by Governor *.

6. Very,Very sad but, Al Gore wanted Hand Counted Paper Ballots heres his offer
Offer to Bush: Hand count, then meet to show unity

I propose a way to settle this matter with finality and justice.
First, we should complete hand counts already begun in Palm Beach, Dade, & Broward Counties to determine the true intentions based on an objective evaluation of their ballots. Observers and participants from both parties should be present in every counting room as required under Florida law. If this happens, I will abide by the result, and I will take no legal action to challenge the result.

I am also prepared, if Gov. Bush prefers, to include in this recount all the counties in the entire state of Florida. I would also be willing to abide by that result. We believe the count can be completed within seven days of the time it starts.
Second, I propose that Gov. Bush and I meet personally, before the vote count is finished, not to negotiate, but to improve the tone of our dialogue in America.

Shortly after the results are known, we should both come together for another meeting to reaffirm our national unity.

8. Oh...I know. I wasn't saying that Al Gore didn't want paper ballots....
I'm certain he does.

I was lamenting the fact that it isn't talked about anymore except for now and then. Considering that we have another election coming, I think that's sad.

I was congratulation Al Gore having a major role in winning an Oscar for a great movie taught many so much!

The Oscar Champagne has me typing ....Not quite what I'm thinking! LOL!
