My own third party
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 06:27 PM by Flabbergasted
Is it not the freedom to express your own political beliefs, especially a minority, that makes democracy what it is?

What is it when a majority seeks to oppress a minority?

Have we become mere pawns to the wishes of the corporatist?

Is it possible to allow others to be courageous?

Is it permissible to speak for a minority?

1. Yes, you are correct.
Sadly though, some people, perhaps even the majority, believe that if you are on the left, you have to march in lockstep, no matter how much the corporatist leaders of our party don't represent your viewpoint. It is the arrogance of this assumption, that all of the left owes all of their votes to the Democratic party that is especially galling. At one time our politicians had to *earn* peoples' votes. Now we're supposed to hand them over, whether we want to or not. I'm with you, I find that attitude abhorent and unsettling. Down that path lies the way to fascism.

I thank DK for doing his best to pull the Democratic Party back to the left, where it needs to be.
