What do you think of Richardson
Of those running he has the best resume and has already stated stances on issues regarding energy, foreign policy and has been the only one to mention GLBT rights at the DDN a few days ago. I could go with a Richardson/Kucinich ticket easily.

2. Extremely experienced and qualified for any key position in the government

from President to Secretary of State. Bill Richardson is top-notched and has a proven track record of accomplishments unlike the overrated Condi Rice, or her boss.

9. Richardson would be a great VP
He has little chance of winning the presidency, though. Great runningmate for any of our candidates.

10. Honestly? Tubby and therefore unelectable -
no one today can escape from a lower tier of candidates these days with that kind of body and face. He has a great resume. It's only his BMI* that disqualifies him.

11. His BMI might be a plus
It might get the couch potatoes out to vote and given the American BMI it might be a plus as well. You never know.

16. That is a scenario - a ticket like
a heavy Gore for Pres, Richardson for VP - a team that "weighs like America" (and looks like America too, with Richardson's Hispanic heritage). But I think my doubt is more appropriate: to an extent, Americans elect a President who is like them, who they feel comfortable with - (viz. the infamous "Beer Test"). But they also vote for a President to be "presidential"- something greater and grander than them. JFK did more than any other recent president to shape the image, to define the nature of the American elective monarch. From him ever on, they will always have Good Hair, they won't be too short (though that was settled by the "OG" himself - the Original George, Washington), and they'll be trim, not tubby -- all to project the youthfulness that America still feels, and we are still a young country, we are still a product of the Enlightenment, and the Enlightenment is still recent history. We settled out frontier not much over a hundred years ago. So there is some method to the voters' madness.

18. Actually you need to check out recent photos of him.
He's lost a lot of weight. If I had to vote right now, Richardson is my first choice followed by Obama and Edwards. We need a diplomat for President after Shrub Inc has been in control and he is one of the elite. He had a lot of influence in getting the recent agreement with N Korea. N and S Korean representatives met with him as recent as December. He's also a policy wonk like Gore. I want a president that understands the issues and doesn't get fed his position like *. He's moderate on many issues and would grab a good number of independents and disatisfied Repugs.

12. I'd like to know more about....here's what I do know.
He's a great diplomat with proven experience, intelligent, likeable, and seems to be popular in his home state.

I will either be voting for Clark, Obama, or Richardson in the California primary.

13. He has a proven
environmental and energy policy. He has saved Otero Mesa from Bu$hCo so far and ABQ will soon have a solar panel factory and he has been at our utilities to start building renewable enery facilities plus a drive for some mass transit along the Rio Grande corridor.

14. He is my candidate in the primary...but I fear...
he won't get it because he lacks superstar power like HC, BO, or JE.

Too bad, I think he is the smartest out of the bunch and best qualified. PLus we could use a someone with his foreign policy and energy experience. I think his pro gun stance will help sway a lot of swing voters and conservite/blue collar Dems. We could tie up NM, PA, NH, MN, WI and MI easily, and likely even get FL and some western states, plus every state we had in 04.

I heard some speculation that he is running knowing that he won't get the nod, but will be a VP candidate. Too bad :(

15. He LOVES diplomacy, and that's exactly the kind of person we need to undo all
the damage Bush has done. He recently negotiated a ceasefire over in Darfur while Bush Inc. couldn't care less about it. He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 4 times for his foreign negotiations, so he obviously has a genuine love of it.

Some DUers feel that he didn't do enough about the 2004 NM election problems, but I feel he has done a lot since. More than most governors.

"March 3, 2006 - New Mexico's 33 counties will switch from a patchwork of voting methods to a single paper-ballot system under a bill signed into law Thursday by Gov. Bill Richardson."

24. Get to know this man.
Bill Richardson is not only the most qualified of the candidates to become President, he would be the best at handling the job of President once he gets there. In this day and age, that has to count for something.

Any of the Democratic contenders can win in November 08. Richardson is most likely to enter the top tier if there is thinning at the top. I would have little problem supporting him for President. If Al Gore enters the race, I would recommend him as VP. He will be a major player in any Democratic Administration if he wants to. Secratary of State is obvious, but he could hold any one of a number of cabinet level positions.
