I want to know which Republics crossed over to our side.

They're not up yet on the Washington Post site. Actually, the last time I checked, the site was down for some revisions or maintenance.

the vote was whether to support cloture which, if passed, would have allowed the vote on the non-binding resolution about Iraq to come up for a vote. cloture requires 60 votes to pass. it failed because the final vote was 56-34.

all but two Democrats (49) voted for cloture. the two who did not were Lieberman who voted with the republicans and Senator Johnson who is recovering from an aneurism and did not vote.

the following republicans voted for cloture: Warner, Snowe, Collins, Specter, Hagel, Smith, Coleman

49 Dems plus 7 republicans made up the 56 votes.

9 republicans chose to abstain. the most notable abstention was McCain.

5. Thanks!
And Lieberman walked to work just to vote against cloture. He doesn't drive on the Sabbath.

7. Lieberman isn't a Democrat.
Therefore, all but one Dem voted for it - and Johnson can't be faulted since he's still recovering.

Lieberman is an Independent.

you know, they keep saying that he's not a Democrat but "he votes with the Democrats".

why, exactly, do they say that?

actually, Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat either.

10. I know - the news media can't seem to figure out Lieberman
has voted with the Republicans more often during this Congressional year than with the Dems - or so it seems.

8. Thanx this shows that "we" are very close
7 republicans who supported cloture and the 9 who abstained
(???? who were they)

We pick up one more when Johnson returns too.

When Jay Rockefeller release the pre war intel on Iraq I am willing to bet that
more republicans will vote to end the war. We are in the middle of a Civil War
because of the lies of bush/ Cheney / and the other neo cons.

And Coleman  Somebody is scared of

11. Botany, is that a photo of Al Franken?
I've never seen him that young looking. Is he doing very well against Coleman, or is it too soon to tell?
