The Growing Hypocrisy of the Democrats
It's only been about a month and I'm already getting tired of the Democrats. What is the point of introducing non-biding resolutions if nothing important is going to come from it? What purpose is it to SAY you're not going to support additional troops, and not stop it from happening? Bush doesn't care what you do and don't support...haven't they figured that out now? It pisses me off that the Republicans are now the minority and they STILL are dominating and determining the outcome of events!!!! To me, the Dems are starting to act like a bunch of p*ssies not wanting to challenge anything and hold the President to their terms. Bi-partisanship works on some issues, but the Iraq War will NOT be one of them!!

I just hope they realize that and do something about it. If not, then they're going to look like nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.

The wheels grind slowly; give them a break already! As you've said, "it's only been about a month."

20. Well, just look at your original post and your others.
You have a whole 177 posts and the title of your thread is "The Growing Hypocrisy of the Democrats". This is the Democratic Underground and we are Democrats here. I know I am. Yet in another post you refer to the "dems" like you are not one of us. It does make one suspicious. Think about it. We do get trolls here and it is not good to feed the trolls.

11. Because a good lot of them...
...Are nothing but a bunch of authoritarian-esque politicians. That's why. They want no opposing views at all, and that's what the non-binding resolutions represent. But what good is an opposing view when it won't prevent the actions from occuring?

14. I really think it's to test the waters to see if they have any chance of going further
and have the votes.

12. Don't just sit back and wait for them to do something.
I phoned Gordon Smith Sen. (R) OR and asked him to send me the reason why he voted against the resolution to stop troop buildup. Also in Oregon Legislature we have a resolution to bring the troops home and opposes the presidents escalation, phoned all my local reps and urged them to sign on. Its going to take all of us pushing and working together to make this happen, at the very least phone them and tell them what you want them to do !

13. wHAT'S THE POINT OF BEING THE pEACE pARTY
When the leading candidate voted for the Iraq war and continues to stand by her vote.

I want Democrats to represent me and to represent peace. Too many Democrats are just too damn pro-war.

I want my candidate to have a history of peace. I don't want my candidate to have to explain past votes and to contort history and then tell me...."I was tricked" "I was lied to" "I was duped". My candidate has to be smarter than that.....

I love Obama

Peace and love

consider, despite what the talking heads say.

15. They can't stop the buildup
Edited on Thu Feb-08-07 08:38 PM by KingFlorez
Bush can just send the troops in, Congress doesn't have the authority to stop him from doing that. A non-binding resolution is start, there isn't going to be a solution right away.

22. Sheesh. It's been a month.
You didn't expect them to have us out of there in a month did you?

It's a process, and second off the Republicans while in the majority still have some sort of grasp of a little power.

Give it time.

Sometimes DU makes me wanna....

23. House Democratic Leaders Plan Iraq Vote
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2858088

WASHINGTON Feb 8, 2007 (AP)— House Democratic leaders said Thursday that members will vote next week on a resolution stating opposition to President Bush's decision to send more forces into combat and voicing support for the troops.

House members initially said members would get a chance to vote on a Republican alternative, but House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer later said he might not allow it because he wanted to keep the debate simple.

"We want to ensure that when the House responds, it does so with clarity," he said.
