It takes a hero.

It takes a hero.

We all know the guy. He's right under our noses. And he can do it all:

Resuscitate the trampled American myth.
Stand it up on its wobbly legs and slap its face 'til its eyes clear.
Be its avatar.
Rip the steering wheel from the white knuckled claws that have seized control and, guided by the People's will, and by Truth and Right, pilot America back to its rightful course.

Ensure that America's legacy will fulfill its promise.
No less than that.

Because it takes a human. It takes a person who has learned the lessons the hard way and comes back from defeat to apply them. It takes a person of true spirit and real---not manufactured--guts. It takes a shrewd politician who also remembers that he/she is made of flesh and bone and only inhabits this life for the wink of an eye.

It takes Al Gore.

<snip>

A rabid Studio 60 fan... I had to read Steven Weber's post at Huffingtonpost. Certainly glad that I did. I love the way he wrapped things up in the last paragraph. Take a look...it's well worth clicking on the link.

It's nice to know that I'm not alone in feeling the way that I do. Steven knows. Hell, most of us do by now. We need a statesman. We're gonna get louder and louder until he hears out pleas...

Your country is calling, sir. Please lead us out of the darkness.

Course I like Clark too and Kucinich and Obama and ... Oh what the heck, let's just give them all a spot in the White House. What a great team it would be.

14. I wonder why the Gore supporters are so determined that he be the top of the ticket?
As we all know/have seen, once in office the President inevitably gets bogged down in the beltway gamesmanship and foreign relations, neither is his forte. The VPOTUS is much more free to focus on what s/he wishes, assuming the POTUS allows it, and is largely out of the spotlight.

As darth cheney has demonstrated, the veep can be quite effective and get more done, while we are all distracted by the MSM circus.
