Draft Al Gore #1 in total Meetup groups!
In mid-December AlGore.org set out to build the momentum for drafting Gore. Nationally there were eight Draft Gore groups. Since then, we've been busy making that number grow. Yesterday we finally hit #1 in total groups:

http://www.meetup.com/topics/polact/cand/

http://www.meetup.com/topics/polact/cand/pres/

If you would like to join us on the "ground game" to get Gore into the race, please contact Karen Wunderman at [email protected] or me at [email protected]

It is a helluva lot of fun and the best hope for saving our nation and our only planet!

16. Similar to the Dean Meetups in 2003:
We talk about growing membership, gaining visibility, etc.

We fundraise, we sign petitions, we talk about ways to combat global warming as individuals, we take on special projects.

11. Yes.
But the point of our movement (speaking only for myself) is to influence Gore's decision making process. The larger we grow, the more likely he gets in, although not necessarily any sooner. I hope he waits until October, if feasible, and that by then we have numbers comparable to Dean 2003.

I love Al and Tipper exactly the way they are -- but if and when we see Al and Tipper drop a few ellbees (LBs, aka pounds) THEN we will know that they are gearing up for the announcement and the campaign.

23. You will see plenty more of Gore in the coming months
Hopefully at the Oscars Ceremony.

Definitely on all the TV talk shows in May - when Gore brings out his next book about the kind of political leadership and rational decision-making we need in government.

I hope he will be looking happy and healthy. But his ideas are more important to me than his waistline (and please don't diss Tipper!)

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :)

Read Rolling Stone magazine: WHY GORE SHOULD RUN -- AND HOW HE CAN WIN
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/13248532/why_gore_should_run__and_how_he_can_win

Get ready for Al Gore's next book - The Assault on Reason - out in May!

25. Of course his ideas are more important
than his waistline. Duh, that was my main point. But my other point is that just like actors lose for the Oscars, we will see the Gores start losing and the campaign run and we can gather hope from that indicator. After all, he is the one who keeps saying he doesn't expect to ever run again.

And I would be the last person to diss Tipper -- as I said I LOVE them as they are -- LOVE is a very strong word.

But I need recent pics. For several months, I have been keeping a Word document going with pics of Al. I already have the pics from all the recent articles.

You know, to be "acceptable" enough? I know the person who is linked up top, I think Karen, already stated on the site she frequents that he will be a "has been" after 2008 as well and that he has a puffy face. That's real nice.

39. I love them exactly the way they are...
but if you read through his bio you will see that he has a habit of starting up an exercise routine before campaigns. That will be an indicator that he is actually thinking about running -- which was the point of my reply. A point you missed, obviously. I am only talking about INDICATORS -- not what he should or should not do. Sheesh.

33. Yes ?
Chuckles ....

Of the BILLION times Albert Gore said "I am not running", and the 2 times he said "I haven't ruled it out", you have decided that means "I am running for US President in 2008" ???

Albert Gore is NOT running in 2008, and has emphatically said so many times ....

Im not sure where you pulled that 'Yes' from, but it must be a well hidden place ...

28. You don't draft winners
By conceding to a draft you are telling the world you believe he lost the 2000 election and has to go through it all again. He won in 2000, and therefore a draft should not be necessary. However, those of us who tried to go to Congress to get a Constitutional amendment thought about to see those who have elections stolen from them see REAL remuneration were called crackpots by the same people running this again who failed the last time. That's how they treat other Gore supporters who don't tow their line. If anything, I hope you all get the attention you all crave now while riding on his coattails while Al Gore is out here trying to get people to actually become a part of the solution THEMSELVES instead of sitting at a modem every day begging him to do what he is already doing as if he cannot think for himself and as if being the great man he is now isn't good enough if that is truly what he wants. We had our chance to do right by him, but more important this country and we blew it. How many chances do you think you get? In all honesty I find it arrogant of you to continue to harrass him. No wonder he now rolls his eyes when "that" question is asked of him.

And I am sure the line, I don't believe in coffee clotches is the absolute worst thing ever posted on this forum. I really am sorry if the sustainability of this planet now takes my focus off of the same spinning of wheels that accomplished nothing just two and half years ago. And to be frank with you, how certain people in this group treated other Gore supporters when it mattered most to REALLY work to push Bush out and seek accountability was what was uncalled for. So do not think your chastisement of me here when you know nothing about where I am coming from changes my opinion in any way.

45. Not wanting him to again be a part of this system when he is already making progress is not negative
And if you are always reading what I type here what does that say about you? Shouldn't you be out working for the planet as well? I've done nothing but support the environment since I was a young girl, and now continued to support An Inconvenient Truth, handed out hundreds of flyers, walked the streets of my town on weekends talking to people about it since I happen to work for a living during the week, living my own life as carbon neutral, supporting environmental organizations, donating copies of the movie voluntarily with my own money, and now working on showing the movie for free to my community and alerting them to this crisis as well as writing my local and state governments. Believe me, I do plenty and will continue to do more besides do all I can on the Internet to support this and to discuss it. So don't think I'm going anywhere just because my opinion ruffles some feathers, because I'm not. I am actually a great multi-tasker. But thanks for your concern.

35. Gore decided to accept the SCOTUS ruling on 12-13-2000
Even though he strongly disagreed with the 5-4 decision to stop the recount in FL. This was after he had fought for 36 days -- exhausting all the options that were open to him under the law.

Gore believed that to continue contesting the results - with no realistic chance of changing the outcome - would not be in the best interests of the country.

As much as I hate the fact that Bu$h-Cheney were allowed to "steal" the 2000 election, I respect Gore's decision to accept the SCOTUS ruling. Gore lost that battle, but he lived to fight another day. He is younger than Hillary. I see no reason why he should not run in 2008.

He will only run if he knows and sees that we want him to be our candidate.

If Mr. Gore should ever decide to run again for anything it won't be because any group harrassed him into doing it. A shame he can't be given more credit and respect regarding knowing where he wishes his life to go. Making fun of my handle isn't going to change that.
