The candidates and the bloggers at the DNC WM
From Kos front page:

And what about the candidates themselves? Christopher Dodd stood about 20 feet from "bloggers
row," and had one of his people come over and invite us come talk to him. It was suggested that since we were the ones plugged into the wall, it would be easier for Dodd to come to us. He didn't. Wesley Clark came over and shook hands with all the bloggers and then spent a good 20 minutes glad-handing with DNC members. Kucinich had people handing out press kits to anyone breathing, but the candidate himself didn't stop by (anybody need a Kucinich press kit?). As for Hillary, Barack and John? They didn't even step into the hall.

Kind of reminds me of the late night after-dinner party the DNC threw in NYC after the first debate that Wes Clark participated in. All candidates were invited to both the high priced dinner and the "economy" priced late night thing that was held in the same hotel afterwards...just a very short walk across the hall. All candidates showed up for the dinner with all of the rich folks in attendance....ONLY Wes showed up to mingle with the poor folks. Not even Dennis could be bothered with us....Two Americas indeed.

2. Probably cause Wes Clark ain't a politician.....
He understands that as President his job would be to work FOR US. Many of the others consider the presidency more as a throne of sorts. They prefer to remain ellusive and magical!

3. I never hear anything negative about Clark. Heard on TV one time
that he's a great guest in the home, last one to leave 'cause he just enjoys talking and mixing it up with people. I like that..

4. Wes has that quality
that makes me believe if he had a spare couple of hours, he'd sit down, share a couple of beers and shoot the breeze with us....and enjoy it.

He's such a good guy, :-) that's why I love him.

5. Yeah, he really does think each and every person is important.
With him, it's not just pandering or lip service. He really does enjoy being with even the least among us...and he really listens to what we have to say.

Another little story....I attended an event where General Clark spoke at Chris Heinz' loft in Manhattan. I walked in and realized at once that I was way underdressed. Everyone had on suits and I had on my jean jacket and black jeans. I felt terribly out of place...but then Wes walked in and, as he was working the crowd, I stopped him and we started talking about his campaigning for Kerry and how my niece and nephew met him at one of the Kerry's events. He remembered the kids and he laughed about the event. And he stood and held my hands and looked so intently at me as he listened to my concerns about the country and there were all of these high-powered, so-called "important" people all around and he ignored them and took the time to speak to me until one of the event organizers finally moved him along.

As I said, he really does think each one of us is equally important. I think a lot of people just don't even know what to make of that in a political figure.
