Franken to run for Senate in Minnesota
WASHINGTON - Comedian and radio talk show host Al Franken has decided to run for U.S. Senate in Minnesota, a senior Democratic official from Minnesota said.

The official, who did want to be identified because Franken has not made an announcement, said Wednesday that Franken told her of his decision recently.

Earlier this week, Air America Radio, a liberal talk radio network, on which Franken is a longtime personality said it had reached a tentative agreement to be sold to the founder of a New York area real estate company and that Franken would depart next month.

1. Best of Luck to him. Everyone who thinks they have an idea
worth a damn should run for office. One thing the Dems could really use is a deeper bench.

2. This is an advantageous political climate for him
'08 will be a fairly anti-GOP political climate, and Minnesota isn't particularly crazy about Norm Coleman. Al has a real chance here.

I never could stand that weenie Coleman! GO AL GO! Al's really done a lot to draw attention to the slimey tactics of the RWers. We really owe him for all the start-up time getting AAR off the ground.

10. Love the phrasing on that subject line.
I really thought that Al would go after Norm Coleman. He'll have Minnesota rockin' during that campaign, and the people of that enlightened state will send him to the US Senate. And, the US Senate will never be the same ever again.

7. Great news!
I like Franken, he should liven up the campaign next year. If you think Sharpton's funny, wait till Al hits the campaign trail. And Coleman was elected last time by only 50%.

8. Go Al, beat Norm, Even with the publican convention
I'm confident Al Franken can beat Norm Coleman. Al would be the only New York Jew in this race who actually grew up in Minnesota. And I seriously doubt any of Al's family would have sex with a prostitute in public during the day. Norm's dad already did.

11. Norm Coleman is the scariest looking person
the hair looks like a wig and his suits look like he's wearing something his dad handed down to him.

:scared:

13. Coleman's in more trouble than he realizes.
Franken's been doing a ton of research on several important things that Coleman, as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he's let too many things slide
in this past four years. Jack Abramoff, for one.

Franken's done his homework on Coleman, and I think ol' Zipper is going to be surprised at how much ammunition Al has on him.
