I wonder how many of them secretly wish he had been?

1. I've become rather a grumpy obnoxious SOB
when chatting with bush supporters. They really, really bring out the worst in me. And I've discovered over the past 4+ years the one line that pisses them off more then any other:

If Clinton or Gore had been President on 9-11 we would not have had a terrorist attack because those men did not need a terrorist attack.

In 04 I updated the line to add Kerry.

I then go onto LIHOP and then lying about WMD because the truth would not have been accepted, typical republican modus operandi. By that time they are usually huffing and puffing away discovering they are not gonna get a word in edge wise with this insane liberal veteran (who happens to be proven right about everything.)

I think most "conservatives" wish they had an operable sex life that didn't include blow up dolls and internet porn.

piss off the wing nuts.

3. My pat answer to that is: "Well, they weren't.
9/11 happened on Bush's watch so that kind of makes it his problem, doesn't it?"

8. wouldn't have been
nearly the disaster it is

well, the coast would have sustained the same damage it did, but I'm betting there would have been some sort of alarm about the levees; some sort of standby plan to repair any breach faster, and the city just might not have been flooded. there certainly would have been a faster response, better evacuation, better quick relief.

the bs waiting for the gov to ask, blaming the locals just would not have happened.

it was, after all is said and done, typical elitist "let them eat cake" mentality, which would not have been the case with Al.

and just perhaps the warnings from the previous several years would have gotten attention in administration that would have respected scientific data, and there would have been sufficient advance work to avoid the breach. all it would have taken is enough fill on the lake side of the levee to dissipate the surge. not rocket science.

nobody can prove "what might have been", but bottom line is you put idiots in charge and stuff goes to hell; you put good, intelligent leaders in charge and stuff goes better

9. Why does he have to lose 25 pounds? Isn't his movie enough
to stand on its own? Or, we expect him to be one of the *beautiful people* who walk the carpet? Why? Can't he just go and be AL?

:P

To lose 25 pounds with normal exercise and a good diet should take about 25 weeks. Faster, the normal way, and there is a lot of muscle loss.

7. You haven't perused Free Republic lately.
There's still plenty of, "Thank God we have such a resolute president who truly understands the great danger our country is in, blah, blah, blah". :puke:

11. I plead guilty to that. FR is not good for much except a few laughs. Mostly it is not even funny,
just stupid. I would rather play with the dog.

19. The ones that really scare me are...
...those who claim that "we're fighting them over there" -- i.e., in Iraq -- "so we don't have to fight them here." That's a talking point from a Republican pollster's memo, and Bush and various Republicans still use it. They're trying to sell people a sense of domestic security through a bloody war, and yet you'll notice that airport security is as tight as ever and of course the government wants to look at our e-mails and listen in on our phone calls. And of course 9/11 wasn't caused by Iraq, and neither was the 1993 WTC attack. So only someone who is a liar or a fool would believe we are any safer on our own shores.

10. My spouse, who leans right, used to say that all the time
She doesn't anymore. She watched "Inconvenient Truth" with me the other day, and remarked how favorably President Gore comes across vs. how the media portrayed him in 2000.

15. Gore wouldn't have IGNORED the issue....
Like Bush did leading up to 9/11!!

And Gore wouldn't of dragged us into a wrongful war in Iraq and claiming it was to fight the "war on terror" while letting terrorism grow and spread and getting America into this mess we can't seem to get out of.

If Gore was President after 9/11 he wouldn't have allowed another 3,000+ troops die for a lie.

Of course the GOP isn't using that line anymore. Because Bush isn't fighting an effective war on terror, and is failing that war. Hmmmm, he seems good at failing wars. War on terror, war in Iraq. Facts are terrorism is spreading, and look how dangerous Iran and North Korea have became while we've been in Iraq.

17. Excuse me?
Bush has been a failure at EVERYTHING! Why in hell would anybody expect anything different just because he got himself "selected" by Daddy's buddies? And Cheney now has the reigns anyway, always has. But asswipe leads the failure charge....Peter Principle at it's finest!!!

18. If the Peter Principle worked in all cases....
Dubya would have been put to pasture after he killed the Texas Rangers.

Unfortunately, family, money, and connections trump the Peter Principle these days.
