Would Kerry Win A Majority Of Votes If He Had Only One Challenger?
I'm struck by the fact that Kerry is winning a plurality of votes in the primaries, but is having difficulty winning a majority of them. Kerry isn't able to secure more than 45-50% of the vote with 3 other major challengers. Do you think he would get a majority if he was going head-to-head against only Dean, only Edwards, or only Clark?

8. Partly because he could pretend he was running against Bush.
Meanwhile, Clark is saying that Edwards's tax plan isn't progressive.

If Kerry had to run against one of these candidates, what do you think would happen?

4. holding my breath
that the doctor gets a chance to find out. all due respect to edwards and clark, dean has built a different kind of organization, spoken to just the disaffected voters that need to be brought into the process. and i think that in the end, if he does lose, more of these people will stay in the process if they get to see where dean and kerry agree.

6. Yes he would
You say "only" 45-50% like it's a problem. That's a formidable number against that many competitors.

If it were a 2 man race, you can't assume the votes going to all the others that dropped out would all go to the candidate running against Kerry. Kerry would get a good portion of those votes as well.

Sorry, just get used to the idea that Kerry has this locked up.
