CLARK supporters and well-wishers only
This is the official thread for Clark supporters and well-wishers to discuss his performance in the Maine caucus, free of disruption.

If you are not a Clark supporter or a well-wisher, please do not post in this thread. The purpose of this thread is for disruption-free discussion among Clark supporters. Any negative posts by opponents will be deleted by the moderators. We will open up separate threads where supporters of the other candidates can interact without disruption from opponents.

Clark will end up in second, and tomorrow we'll see the Edwards camp either claiming they came in second, or "tied for second".

Like I really want to vote for someone who can't seem to either a) tell the truth, or b) can't do basic math.

34. Remembering Dover New Hampshire
and traveling there to see Wes Clark on his first visit to New Hampshire after declaring his candidacy. I was so proud to be there, and so proud to shake Wes Clark's hand and say, thank you for running for president.

I am as proud today of that moment as I was then, perhaps more so because I see what Wes and his family put themselves thru for this country. We asked him to do it, and he did it because he loves this country. He spoke with honor and credibility.

I am very very proud to wear a four star pin on my coat lapel in honor of Wes Clark.

72. This really sucks............

This country of ours has a great choice in Clark to lead us and.........not enough people see it..........Why?.............I really hate to say it but.........it really is over tonight.........So, am I supposed to fall in line now and support someone I don't believe in because the other choice is even worse.......a beautiful system we have.........

78. My advice
fall in line and work to get bush out of office, then take the next 4 years to revaluate how you feel about your party and what we can do to fix it or if it comes down to it, leave it.

82. Okay, I've got some spin for everyone
Edwards coming in second to Kerry is a bigger loss than Clark possibly coming in 3rd to Kerry. Tennessee is right next door to NC. Clark did not lose his next door neighbor state OK to Kerry. So I say yeah Wes!

Damn if only I had my own news show!

Go Wes!

86. Conventional wisdom that John Edwards will stay in and Wes Clark is gone
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 08:54 PM by thelocalkgb
:wtf:

John Edwards and Wesley Clark have won the exact number of primaries: 1

Clark came in second in: New Mexico, Arizona, North Dakota

Edwards came (or might come) in second in: Oklahoma, Iowa, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri

Correct me if I'm wrong, but conventional wisdom would say that "who will stay in longer" would be as these "journalists" so often say - "too close to call"

:puke:

edit: JE also came in second in Missouri

126. Clark needs to stay in this race, period.
He has done well enough in all the states where he has enough resources to mostly get around the media blockade to show that he wins support from Democrats who get the chance to know him. That means, to me, that Clark has what it takes to potentially be our nominee.

Worst case, even if Clark comes in third in TN, Clark could, if need be, back off the pace a little to save money, but formally still stay in the game, to participate in the public debate, but mostly just in case something happens to suddenly make Kerry less popular, and things like that CAN happen.

I think a lot of Kerry supporters would pick Clark over Edwards if Kerry self destructed because Clark too is a decorated war hero with international expertise. If Dean fails to stem his losses, Clark would be a second choice for many of them as well somewhere (not anywhere near mind you) down the road.

Clark has become a major spokesperson for the Democratic Party on important issues. If he comes in less than tied for second in TN (I love saying that in this context), Clark could become our "National Guard" candidate, ready to be mobilized to step into the breech if events turn that way, and Kerry starts to stumble. Clark and Kerry are at opposite ends of a See Saw. When one surges the other sinks and vice versa. Edwards may be edging Clark now, we will see, but Edwards can't grab leaking support from Kerry the way Clark can, and if support doesn't leak from Kerry, well that's the ball game, isn't it?

I still believe only Kerry or Clark can win the nomination, not Edwards though Edwards might get to play the role of runner up. If Kerry implodes, Clark needs to be available to step back in and pick up the pieces.
