A possible method to impeach? Have * break a law Congress passes...
What if Congress passed a law that restricted the surge either financially or directly - afterall, Congress can say we do not and have never declared war. Then, * breaks the law by doing his stupid surge. Then we can impeach - kind of similar how to what was done to Andrew Johnson. The thought just popped into my head...could this be a plan that could work (with other real politicos working out the details)?

1. Would there be enough votes to pass the law and override the veto? n/t

2. Why not just impeach him for the 800 laws Congress passed that he's already broken?
No need to make up a new one.

The pile of evidence, if printed, is already enough mass to implode on itself and form a black hole.

3. Breaches of Congress? Where do you want to start?
There's the law that was approved by both Houses but had different provisions i.e. the version that became law was not the version passed by the House!

Not to mention dubious signing statements, non-declarations of war and the little matter of the illegal wiretap actions.

Since when do these Yahoos care about laws? Laws are for suckers.

4. This one would be like a showdown
between Congress and * - the media would be more likely to be on it...and that could help...

7. I think you're right
This would be hard to ignore, even by "lazy media" standards.

5. He already has
But impeachment is a POLITICAL remedy. It has nothing to do with "criminal" activity.

Nixon was impeached and would have been removed due to public pressure -- nothing more and nothing less. Any speculation about impeachment or the posibility of removal by the Senate at this time is pointless. Let's wait for the investigations, hope that the MMM don't totally censor or spin the results and the people respond with cries for *'s removal.

It's not outside of the realm of possibility. It SHOULD be done to preserve the Constitution. Of course, just because it's the right thing to do doesn't mean it will be done...but unless we keep up the pressure, it surely won't be done.

6. The real danger, that is seen by many, is that if he were impeached
and convicted he would just use a signing statement and remain in power. Setting up a constitutional crisis with the law being against him but him refusing to acknowledge it. The military leaders he has selected have pledged allegiance to him not the constitution or the country and they would not remove him but instead protect him. He could then dissolve congress and declare himself leader for life. With no one to stand up to him in the military the transformation to Nazi germany would be complete.

9. ... not to mention that Darth Cheney would take the reins
And that would be the worst nightmare of all.

Like a genie being given his own powers to grant his own wishes.

8. Congres needs * to sign the bill for it to become law
and override of his veto requires super majority.

13. In the end the congress will loose nerve and vote for the surge...
otherwise they will be accused of pulling the rug
from under the troops. Atleast that is my guess as of now.
Will see how it goes after shrub speaks tonite.
