Look for poll numbers to drop precipitously in the next week.

3. just excerpts
Editing out all the "uhm"s and goofy answers. Leaving them with probably about a minute worth of positive footage out of the hour long interview.

17. Maybe they can use Wonkette's abridged version?
It was hysterical:

<quote>
ar against the terrorists . . . war against terrorists . . . war against terror. . . Yeah. . . Yeah. . . . this war on terror. . . fight the war on terror. . . . Yeah. . . . this is all in the context of war. . . war against terror. . . . this war on terror. . . Yeah. . . . Yeah. . . . the war on terror. . . . the war is against terrorists . . . Yeah . . . Um hmm. . . . war against these terrorists. . . the war against terror. . . Yeah. . . . Yeah. . . Yeah. . . . Yeah. . . . Yeah. . . Um hmm. . . Um hmm. . . . we are at war. . . Yeah. . . Yeah. . . . I want to lead this great country to work with others to change the world in positive ways, particularly as we fight the war on terror. . . . Thank you, Tim.

5. You're kidding
Really? Even diehard hacks like Andrew Sullivan and John Derbyshire ridiculed his performance. Think Dubya's slipped his leash? I can't believe Rove approves of this.

6. Maybe Rove is being overestimated here...
He's slipping dangerously into Top 10 Conservative Idiots territory.

10. Rove IS overestimated
He's good at his job, but with a compliant national media and political punditry being almost entirely rightwing, who wouldn't be? Still, I can't imagine he'd make this kind of mistake.

BTW, welcome to DU :)

18. No, they don't overlook reason and sanity.
They just don't know what they are or how to recognize them.

9. That interview was the worst
interview I've ever seen a politician give. They are on the defensive now. We've got to keep up the pressure and dictate the debate and issues.

19. I didn't see the broadcast.
But the parts that appeared on The Daily Show were hilarious, even without Stewart's comments and antics.

15. Unfortunately, the transcript doesn't include the awkward pauses..
...and baffled expressions.

Still, it does include Dubya's "answers" in all their inarticulate glory :hi:.

Can't believe the White House is actually gonna circulate this.

We may have an easier time in November than we realized :)

14. Didn't see it either
(I'm overseas) but I read most of it. Dubya's bumblefucking is clear, even in print:
"But David Kay did report to the American people that Saddam had the capacity to make weapons. Saddam Hussein was dangerous with weapons. Saddam Hussein was dangerous with the ability to make weapons. He was a dangerous man in the dangerous part of the world. And I made the decision to go to the United Nations."

Check out his drift into stream-of-consciousness lala-land here:

"And, Tim, as you can tell, I've got a foreign policy that is one that believes America has a responsibility in this world to lead, a responsibility to lead in the war against terror, a responsibility to speak clearly about the threats that we all face, a responsibility to promote freedom, to free people from the clutches of barbaric people such as Saddam Hussein who tortured, mutilated there were mass graves that we have found a responsibility to fight AIDS, the pandemic of AIDS, and to feed the hungry. We have a responsibility. To me that is history's call to America. I accept the call and will continue to lead in that direction."

13. Isn't there a rumor going on that Bush is no longer
taking orders from Rove? That's what a friend told me because Bush was angry over the CIA leak and things like that. I guess the 'tard is going kamikaze.

As even Peggy Noonan said, the interview reads much better than it sounded.

22. This was the statement that nearly
sent me rolling off the bed in disbelief:

The thing about the Vietnam War that troubles me as I look back was it was a political war. We had politicians making military decisions, and it is lessons that any president must learn, and that is to the set the goal and the objective and allow the military to come up with the plans to achieve that objective. And those are essential lessons to be learned from the Vietnam War.

Has anyone seen Bush's brain?
