Edited on Thu Jan-04-07 06:18 PM by madfloridian
This just tires me.

I guess this means none of us who disapprove of her actions yesterday are worthy.

What a tiring two days. Pelosi and Murtha both spoke out firmly against the war today, but Cindy folks here are still going strong attacking anyone who disagrees.

15 on the Greatest page right now...

I am not going to defend myself anymore. Just go ahead and bash and call names, make everyone else feel less wothy than Cindy and her supporters.

We aren't, you know, but there is no way to defend when there are 15 posts on the Greatest page going after us.

35. Good post! I am so sick of people whining about Cindy Sheehan.
You were much more courteous to them than I feel like being. They're already at it below with the fucking annoying "Sir" and "Ma'am" shit.

The Sir-Ma'am contingent said Cindy was useful once, but has now outlived her usefulness. Rather cold, isn't it? Kind of like, Casey Sheehan was useful once--but now, we can just relegate his cold, rotting, corpse to the dirt, and forget all about him and the others like him.

Rahm Emanuel DESERVES to be interrupted until he either gets on board the ISSUE THAT GOT HIS PARTY ELECTED--getting us out of these fraudulent wars--or until he loudly declares his favor for these fraudulent wars and openly joins the repukes/profiteers/neocon murderers who are causing them. At least then he won't be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

3. People like Rahm Emanuel are embarrasing Democrats, who supports the war,
and Harry Reid and others are embarrasing the dems, because they support a "temporary surge", otherwise known as an massive escalation of the Iraq war. Pelosi is saying she opposes the war, but i can't find what steps she proposes to force an end to it and bring troops home. She has made clear that bush will get full funding for the war.

cindy is someone dems should be proud of.

22. You Are Fine, Ma'am, And Your View Of Ms. Sheehan Correct
She was useful a few years ago, and now is pointless distraction.

About the only value in her actions now is that her attacks on Democrats will serve to re-assure a good many swing voters that by voting Democratic they have not aligned themselves with the "protest crowd" they still regard with a good deal of hostility.

8. She Didn't Embarrass Anyone ------------- I liked the Dem Congressman
from MA who said this is what America is all about and she is a mother who lost her son and she has strong feelings about this war and is trying to get her message out to anyone she can about the war.

He also was there and I think the dems looked at it differently than the republicans do. Yes the republicans are trying to make something of it but Dems believe in free speech, at least most of them, he wasn't upset at all. Yes she did surprise them and yes she did interrupt what they were getting ready to do but she was doing the best she can about an issue she is very passionate about.

America is still free.

for speaking to the Christian Broadcasting Network about gay marriage. Some gay people (including me) thought it was pandering and tacky of him. Anyone who criticizes her Howard (no matter what valid point they may have) gets this treatment. Funny, Howard is to her what Cindy is to some of us. Strange that Madfloridian doesn't see the irony.

I find this rather a distasteful thing to say. Dean is the reason my hubby and I are still Democrats. We almost left the party after the vote for the war and after his campaign.

I think your post is pretty sad.

I really find it the very worst way to get support for Cindy.

I really don't care what you think about me, but I have not insulted you. I spoke up because I was being insulted by Cindy Sheehan's supporters.

I don't have a problem that she interrupted the press conference as much as it just isn't the time to do it. And all of this Dems support the war, and the out and out LIES about the 'surge' statements, well this is what has been causing Democrats problems in creating a cohesive opposition in the first place. It's pretty easy for Tweety & his ilk to say the Dems won't do anything when the left runs around and says the same damned thing. Just like when they insisted Kerry was 'stay the course', and helped the right create that frame too.

15. It's because given half a chance,
Democrats will forget who brought them to the dance.

Given half a chance, when it comes to Iraq, Dems will cave in.

And if they cave here, they will cave to other things (like radical judical appointments.

They can not be allowed to forget and give in to the rethugs.

Slap them early and they will be less likely to pretend Liebermann is a role-model.

And you have no idea whether they will "cave" or not. While it is true that some Dems have "caved" on various issues in the past twelve years, one reason for that just MIGHT be that we've been the MINORITY PARTY.

I say give 'em a chance and let's see what they do.

We don't jump in lockstep -- we hold our leaders' feet to the fire when they don't respond to what we the voters demand they do.

And I'm with Cindy given Bush's insane desire to actually escalate the war. Somebody has to force the Democrats (apparently) to do the right thing, and if she does so, good for her.

If you are opposed to this and think it doesn't deserve the attention she is getting, why still give her power and continue to post about her?

She is entitled to her opinion, as is AAR, about what they think is the appropriate response to Iraq and other issues.

All you have to do is a search here at DU on my user name and DLC. I have opposed them vehemently.

I support Cindy's main goal, which is stopping this horrible war. But I don't like shutting down conferences of our own party before even giving them a chance.

I don't like being accused of being who I am not because I differ, and that is why I wrote this post. If we opposed her tactic, we were attacked and made to feel worthless.

and perhaps I am reacting to the volume of anti Sheehan threads out there, but the thing you are asking "not to be worthless" is the same thing I am asking that we do with Sheehan, not make her worthless now or demonize her now that her "usefulness" is over.

Believe me, she may bite off her tongue to spite her face, but the amount of anti-Cindy threads because she is holding the Dems as accountable (specially the pro-war crowd)is no reason to kick her to the curb.

and most of them were started by Cindy's supporters. No one was to disagree.

Look up my user name and DLC, and don't think I ever thought she was useless. I think there are a couple of people who have advised her to do things that were not so good. I admire her personally and what she has done. I got tired of being attacked.

Right after the election, Carville went after Dean and the grassroots movement. It spoiled our feel good moment.

Then just as our Democrats were preparing to take control, she spoils it for many of us.

I don't like Rahm, but he should have had his conference.
