1. The Republicans
Cheney is the tiebreaking vote, thus Republican control.

2. that's what I thought. So I must say this, if Senator Johnson or any other
Dem senator in a state with a Repug governor dies....I will not believe it's a coincidence. NOT ANOTHER ONE. NO.

4. Yes but... who selects who will head up the various committees?
I realize Cheney breaks voting ties..

But someone has to head up senate committees, etc.. Who assigns them?

Does the senate (without Cheney) vote on that?

3. The House sets the agenda, not the Senate
Yes, Carnahan, Wellstone, and Johnson are a little too coincidental. The GOP is backed by big corporate money and I put nothing past them.

6. Whatever happens, in 2008 we will take the Senate in a big way
If you mean that the house sets the agenda because it has the power to investigate, then I definitely agree with you

The big problem we have in the next to years, if another Supreme Court vacancy becomes available, the Dems better filibuster this time if another corporate croney is appointed, and I say if the repukes want to use the NUKE option, let them, because in 2008, they are SCREWED

7. The GOP are running fast from Bush appointees
Look at his loyalists like Talent, Santorum, McCaca, Pombo, Hayworth etc and what happened to them.
