1. Edwards used to be the top challenger for Hillary.
I like Edwards a lot but its hard seeing him getting the nomination if Obama or Gore enter the race.

4. Pool from the same bloc of voters.
Edwards was the young, good looking, charismatic, orator last go around. Obama is the new blood that fits that role this time.

7. Exactly.

Edwards also benefits by being a more nationally recognized figure than others in the race like Vilsack and Biden. He doesn't have that advantage over Obama though. There's only so much money and media coverage to go around.

3. Probably hurting him
He was in an excellent position before Obama started flirting with a run - in the position to pick up virtually all of the anti-Hillary vote.

Now he's competing against for that vote with Obama.

I still think he has a chance - he's in a strong position in Iowa, Nevada, and South Carolina and he has a lot of support from the blogosphere and labor. So if Hillary and Obama both run, he still has a better shot than anybody else in the race. But it will make it a lot more difficult.

Edwards wasn't nearly as popular as Obama is...and still isn't.

14. and Edwards never will be....
In two years in the senate, Obama accomplished more than Edwards.

This Southern states-rights schtick that Edwards does is REALLY bothersome to a lot of people, particularly the time he went off on Howard Dean.

8. It makes no difference.
At this point, only the media and speculators are pitting potential candidates against each other.

As far as I can see, each candidate is working on building their base and their identities. That doesn't prevent anyone else from doing the same.

9. Edwards can still emerge as the anti-Hillary candidate
He is young, attractive, and he has a good message.

Can Edwards compete with Obama, that's another question that is too early to answer.

BTW, Edwards is on Tweety's show on Tuesday.

11. Depends.
If Hillary and Obama are bashing each other, he could sneak in between the cracks and gain a lot of support. If Hillary runs and Obama doesn't, Edwards has a great chance of beating her. If Obama runs and Hillary doesn't, it would be a neck and neck battle through the primaries. If Gore gets in, all the above will be smashed by Gore's greatness.

13. Gore's "greatness"?
You consider his (and Clinton's) f*ck-the-poor strategy of welfare DEform "great"? Thanks, but no thanks...I'm not into Dem politicians who did more to ruin the safety net than even their Republican predecessors did.

15. Hurts Edwards
Both are young and inexperienced. Both are very good at delivering a message. I think Obama is more inspiring and has a better story.

16. Well, it appears that this may be the case....
2008's Good looking youthful articulate middle-class roots HEARTLAND BLACK Attorney turned Senator advocating in causes for the poor, labeled smart and charismatic with a nice family, lacking in foreign policy experience but who was correct on his assessment on the biggest blunder in American History known as IRAQ and who was NOT on the losing ticket in 2004.....AND IS loved and CURRENTLY promoted by the press (more than any other candidates) .....

vs.

2004's Good looking youthful articulate middle-class roots SOUTHERN WHITE Attorney turned Senator advocating in causes for the poor, labeled smart and charismatic with a nice family, lacking in foreign policy experience AND who was INCORRECT on the biggest Foreign policy blunder in American History known as IRAQ and WAS on the LOSING TICKET in 2004 but who WAS loved and promoted by the press (less than Obama and Hillary, but more than any other candidates)....

I'll take the 2008 Fellow who was right on the war, please!
