Movement to overthrow Maliki - will they call for a new election?
There have been some reports that the ruling "government" is planning on overthrowing Maliki and putting someone else in charge? If they do, will they have new elections? Or would this be a simple coup d'etat? Since the "government" of Iraq has little credibility already, would this not be the final nail in the coffin for their pretense of being a governing body?

1. Al-Maliki was chosen by a deal between the coalition partners.
He can be replaced by a new coalition. That's how parliaments generally work.
With al-Maliki and the Sadrists out of government, there may be a faint hope
for a political settlement in Iraq. It's a very long shot.

2. You must have missed it.
Tony Snow says there is no truth to rumours of overthrowing Maliki. (Another flashback to the old days of Soviet denials.)
