"J'accuse!" or "Just get over it "
OK, I know that I have been guilty of wallowing in the unchangeable past. I'm sorry. It's just that I keep thinking of all the parallel universes we might be living in if:

The Supreme Court had allowed the recounts
we had a real news media
Someone paid attention on either July 10 or August 8th 2001
The IRW hadn't passed
we didn't have electronic voting machines
John Kerry had contested Ohio
we did't still have electronic voting machines
we had a real news media

But, they didn't, we don't, they didn't, it did, we do, he didn't, we still do, we still don't

I think I will have to let go of any issues I have/had with the Supreme Court and Kerry, basically because they're both pointless and non-productive. I'm also over the news media anyway- I understand they serve their corporate masters and nothing's gonna change that.

But, I think the IWR should continue to be looked at under a microscope as it could very well become the underpinning of impeachment charges if they ever come to bear. I'm not willing to "get over" electronic voting either. I'm also not gonna "get over" the run-up to 9/11 since we lost lives that possibly might have been saved.

So, 4 J'accuses stay and 4 have passed into the "over it" column. For me, that's some progress anyway.

1. They should've just held a new election back then for Florida only...
Maybe they could've gotten it right the second time?

Then again.. look who was running things..

3. I've been known to wallow from time to time
but the outcome of 2004 would have been the same because of Blackwell. It would have been great to see the fight though.

4. more importantly
You are entitled to your opinion and to process the evolution of that. Discussion helps move people through issues that stick in our craw. I full support that, although some here seem anxious to shut down discussion on topics they aren't interested in or would rather remain under the carpet.

That's an excellent reason to keep the notion of the IWR alive and under scrutiny.

To use as a cudgel against people who voted for it, given the tenor and mood of the country and all back when the vote was taken 9to say nothing of what it was, as written) is pointless.

6. or to use it as a canary in the mine shaft
in determining the qualities in leadership candidates may or may not have demonstrated, something that matters to some voters.

You have made yourself abundantly clear ...
