Kansas Republican Eyes Presidential Bid

By SAM HANANEL
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Sam Brownback, who is considering a White House bid in 2008, said Monday the Republican field has room for a "full-scale Ronald Reagan conservative" and pledged to make a final decision next month.
...
"It does not make it less likely," he said in an interview. "I really believe that the basic conservative ideas and ideals were not repudiated. Our execution was."

1. "full-scale Ronald Reagan conservative" - that's exciting
Arms for hostages, S & L scandals, Central American death squads, and doubling the national debt. Happy days are here again. Oh, and ketchup will once again by a vegetable (except for that Heinz stuff - that's only for Commies).

3. It's funny to watch their desperation
to try and hold on to the "Reagan Democrats".

5. They're also desperate to find a remotely credible candidate for '08
and so far, it looks lousy for them. Their "marquee players" are all has-beens and they've got little or no bench strength. They might as well dig up Reagan and run him again.
