John Tester's conservative agenda?......
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 02:08 PM by RedEarth

.........from Atrios...

The Conservative Agenda

Apparently John Tester's a big hunk of conservatism, at least that's what I keep hearing. So, I bring you the conservative agenda:

Supporting renewable and alternative energy sources (biofuels, bitches!)
Raising automobile mileage

Pro-choice
Protecting public lands
Country of origin labels for food imports
Affordable health care
Enforcing immigration laws for immigrants and employers
gun rights
A plan to end the war in Iraq
Increasing the minimum wage
Repealing the Patriot Act
Changing Medicare D to allow price negotiation with drug companies
No to social security privatization
Pro stem cell research
Middle class tax relief

A couple of these are identified more strongly with conservatism, and a couple of them are "conservative" or "liberal" depending on the details, but if these are our new conservative democratic overlords, fine by me...

Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 02:00 PM by cobaindrain
other than that, he's all right with me!

"Hey the Dems just ran conservatives...they couldn't get elected otherwise...there will be no unity in democratic ranks, the liberal agenda failed!"

Basically anything to rationalize there losses.

21. In the Eighties, it was Biff Tannen's haircut...

Ironically, both the haircut and Michael J. Fox helped Dems get a Senate majority this year...

5. Now that's a conservative agenda I can live with.....
People seem to just be calling Tester a conservative because, well, he kind of looks like one... The thugs are just saying he's a conservative to try to spin their overwhelming defeat.

7. Conserve what? Conserve the integrity of the Constitution?
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 02:01 PM by valerief
Conserve (don't squander) tax revenue? Conserve the health of the planet?

What did the Republicans conserve? Their own assets. Well, they can stick their version of conservatism up their assets.

9. Jon's my boy!
During the campaign, he proudly and loudly (and repeatedly) said he was against the Patriot Act. That took some political courage in a state as red as Montana. He'll be a terrific senator and I'm so proud that the first vote I cast in Montana was for him. Way to go, Montana! :bounce: :toast:

He's going to blow people away
Going to turn the CW of red state right on its head and not a moment to soon. Give him a session, and he'll support civil unions too, if he doesn't already. He has a gentle soul, he's going to be a great Senator, maybe even Majority Leader some day.

15. They can say
just about any Liberal is conservative and get away with it. Because they have been lying to everyone so long...telling them we are out of the main stream..when we are in fact the mainstream.

They are telling people we are going to invite alquada to party with us while we figure out how to force man on dog marriage and abortion on poor powerless republican. We will of course look very conservative to many of them when we don't outlaw Christmas and Jesus. OHHH of course they are conservative they are passing bills to support the troops..and we all know Liberals hate the troops....
