U.S. Democrats re-embrace independent Lieberman
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Democrats have begun to re-embrace Joseph Lieberman and seem ready to give the former Democrat turned independent a chairmanship in the new Congress that convenes in January, party aides said on Thursday.

Lieberman won reelection to a fourth Senate term on Tuesday, running as an independent in Connecticut following his loss in a Democratic primary to anti-war activist Ned Lamont.

Many Senate Democrats respected the outcome of the primary and backed Lamont in the general election. But many also said they still consider Lieberman a friend and a Democrat.

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, set to become majority leader of the new Democratic-led Senate, "talked to Lieberman on Wednesday and told the senator he expects him to be the next chairman of the committee" on
Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, said Reid spokesman Jim Manley.

1. Let them embrace him.
And, if there's justice, God will turn them into pythons.

Who knows. Maybe the strategy will attract Snowe and Collins over to our side as well. It can be pretty lonely in the MINORTY party. Hehehehe.

10. Nope, it is wrong.
Now there will be no way to get incumbents out when they vote us to war or when they tell us not to undermine the president or criticize him.

We will have to take it. I am amazed so few here see that.

What Joe did is not ok, but now he established a precedent. They expect total loyalty to us...but they think they don't have to give it.

thus we are stuck with him.....They, the Dem leaders, they all know how to keep this DINO content...He craves attention and needs attention....They are doing what is smart.....Lieberman wants to be important, not a rebel outcast. They will treat him like a mistress to keep him in line. :kick:

12. Lieberman gives us the majority.
It makes NO SENSE to continue to want to banish him to the hinterland. It is what it is and it would behoove us to make the best of it and relish in this long over-due majority with lovely, lovely subpoena power.
