Sad News: Tammy Duckworth lost
According to CNN.com -- Peter Roskam (Rep) has won Illinois 06.

She came real close - it breaks my heart to see her denied a seat in the House.

I would have loved to see more of Tammy on TV and on the floor of the House.

So while we celebrate - let's spare a thought for Tammy ...

1. I'm sorry for her, but not for Rahm Emmanuel of the DCCC. . .
He's the one who shoe-horned her into this race and took the Dem nomination from progressive Diane Cegelis several months back. Basically, he stabbed Cegelis in the back.

Well, Rahm just got his comeuppance on this one.

Next time, Rahm, if Diane Cegelis runs again in 2008, get the fuck out of the way and STAY OUT OF THE WAY.

But you are spot on about everything else!

edit: I hate that smarmy little bastard and the DLC horse he rode in on.

8. I'm no expert
I didn't follow the history of how Tammy got the Dem nomination.

And I know you're not accusing Tammy of doing anything wrong.

But Tammy has become a symbol of anti-war Iraq vets - nationally and internationally.

Tammy running has definitely helped other Dems in Illinois and across the country.

10. Rahm also "shoehorned" Brown into Ohio. He's deserves as much credit as Dean
And Cegelis would have had same chance of losing.

This absurd kneejerk hate of Emanuel is tiresome.

2. I really wanted her to win
Makes me wonder just what kind of people live in her district. The VFW was pathetic too. But, what a great night!

18. I volunteered for her campaign
and the people who live in this district are the worst of the fundy zombies. This is Dupage Fucking County and I just can't believe I've got to go out and face them this morning.....

While I rejoice at the overall Dem wins, it's bittersweet for those of us who live here and will have to endure that despicable Roskam as our Rep.

Christine Cegelis would not have done much better here, no matter the anger many of her supporters still harbor over Rahm Emmanuel's decision to promote Tammy D.

4. Very sad, but she did an incredible race.
And she came closer to defeating a Republican than any Democrat ever came in this district, and it is particularly remarkable after the endorsement of her opponent by VFW.

Kudos to her.

14. Tammy is one fine woman.
I'm real sorry she lost, Her victory has one I was looking forward to celebrating.

Hey Tammy (if you read this),

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and get back in there. You did it before and you CAN do it again.

Run in 2008, please?

You make us proud, girl, ya hear!

20. It breaks my heart to say that Lois Murphy lost PA-06
They haven't officially declared it for the repuke because it was a close race, but it does not look good.

Oddly enough it was the other Murphy, Patrick in PA-08 that suprisingly beat his repuke opponent

21. I volunteered for Duckworth and Dan Seals
IL didn't do well this year. We didn't pick up any new seats. It was sad. Just glad the rest of the country pulled it off!
