Interest from Downunder
For the first time that I recall, our news media are covering the midterms in detail. I'd put the
interest down to two factors - one, the general unpopularity of George W Bush, and the second the
awareness of voting fraud in the US. So while there may be large sections of the US where voters
are perhaps unaware of the rorts and vote-tampering that has marked the current Administration,
overseas we're very much aware.

I thought you might be interested in some of these articles that have appeared on prominent websites
Downunder - we're just as interested as you are in the outcome of these elections, and we'd all love
to see the Republicans stopped in their tracks.

3. What we don't clear out in the elections
we will have to do in prosecutions, now that we can compel testimony.

5. I am very interested
I thought that we would have some definite results by now. I wonder how Howard is going to feel, having a lame duck for a buddy.

7. I hope it might give them a bit of backbone to take the fight to Howard.
Labor always opposed the Iraq war, so I hope they can use a Democratic resurgence to push their
views.

And a victory for the Democratics will certainly make Howard more isolated - and I don't think he'd
be a favourite with the Dems, as he's put himself so firmly in Bush's camp. I hope he'll have egg
all over his face after today.
