Dean Deserves a LOT of credit-Where's it at?

Had we picked a pro-Iraq war party chairman, the GOPers could easily have used that against us - just like they used it against Kerry. Thank God for Howard Dean!

10. McAuliffe fixed the party's financial problems, give him some credit!

Dean himself has repeatedly given McAuliffe credit for paying off its debt, building a permanent HQ building, and having put the Democratic Party on a solid financial footing. Without those things, Dean wouldn't have been able to do what he did on the 50 state strategy. He would've had to spend his time trying to bail out the leaky boat before it sank.

Dean's done a great job, but he's building on the work that McAuliffe did so give McAulifffe some credit.

It's great that we can bring people with diverse talents into the leadership so that we can build a party based on many strengths.

15. I understand that aspect, and it was a very DC-centric approach that

would have been fine if he hadn't ignored the infrastructure at the same timein so many crucial states - a task he could have delegated to a number of regional directors.

And it's not like the grassroots in many states didn't have the energy after 2000, there was just no plan.

And it reinforces the prevailing observations from then that DNC expected to lose and was taking a pass on the 2004 election and wouldn't devote themselves to it.

25. I agree the infrastructure was sadly neglected. Maybe it was too much

to do at the same time. I don't know.

But, I think Dean has done an absolutely outstanding job and I am so impressed with what he's done and the effect it's having. I wanted this kind of thing to start in 2000, and then in 2002, but I'm sure glad it started after 2004.

Dean is wicked smart about people, enthusiasm, infrastructure, energizing people, etc. And I think he knows that he was done in by the DC centric crowd, as were manyother candidates in states across the country, and he was willing to stand up and take on this leadership role.

Of course, I was a Deaniac from the beginning and I still am.

28. I agree that Dean and the other primary candidates saw firsthand for two years

that the party infrastructure was collapsed in many of the states they traveled to, and I admire that Dean decided he could do something about it and wrested the power of the DNC from the Clinton wing of the party who came up with the targeted states plan after they lost the south in the 94 election.

Almost every primary candidate has been working to build the infrastructure and contributing to help Dean, but they couldn't even be effective with their work if Dean hadn't stepped up to do the job needed.

I think the power struggle is going to worsen after next week. I hope we prevail over the establishment who intends to exert THEIR muscle to control 2008.

2. Dean's 50 state grass roots plan is

working. I have been out there for 25 years and I have never witnessed so may enthusiastic people for candidates. The mass governors race is just a grass roots miracle. Dean is responsible for the work and money that has been contributed.

I'll be interested to see how many seats we take that would have been uncontested if we followed Rahm Emmanual's strategy as opposed to Howard Dean's. Even if he doesn't admit he was wrong, he better give some credit to Dean if we win big.

and supporting them in areas not considered winnable - if they weren't there - the opportunity would have been lost. The people fighting Dean are real losers.
