The Most Outrageous Political Ads Thread
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 10:32 AM by NJCher
Post links to 'em here. I hope many join in because this would make a good research and reference thread for future elections. Even if the ads have been discussed elsewhere at DU (such as George Allen ads), it would be great if they were posted, just for the record.

Many of you will have seen ads locally that people in other parts of the country would never see. Reviewed in one place, we might see similarities. This might give us some ideas about what republicans are up to in their communications.

For my money, Vernon Robinson of NC has the most incendiary ads :nuke: I've seen to date. In one TV ad, he combines joblessness and immigrants, scapegoating immigrants for the lack of jobs.

The images he uses of immigrants show them disrespectful of the U.S., what with demonstrations, crotch grabbing flag burning, and jeering, all while taking our jobs and not paying taxes.

Vernon Jordan's radio ad about immigrants is sung to the Beverly Hillbillies theme and characterizes Brad Miller as a sugar daddy giving away our tax dollars (! yo, Vernon, can you spell "H-A-L-L-I-B-U-R-T-O-N?!)

See the ads here:

Click the picture of the demonstrating immigrants/flag burning to get to the radio/TV ads.

3. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the most ridiculous and sleazy ad this year
Yes, it's the Paul Nelson sex study ad:

http://www.kstp.com/article/stories/S19490.html?cat=1

Video:

Nelson's so proud of this pathetic piece of trash, it's all over his . Come to think of it, it seems to be the only thing on his home page.

And the ad isn't even original. Recycled from North Carolina.

4. Mark Kennedy in MO and Lynn Swann in PA
Here are two more.

http://www.swannforgovernor.com/

Notice the similarity in format. Is someone mass producing these for Repuke candidates?

They turn my stomach. :puke:

But Vernon Robinson's in NC is the worst I've seen so far. "Incendiary" is right. I wonder if he'll learn any lesson about "bad ads" when he loses.

6. I doubt it. To learn you have to have some sort of intellectual capacity,
and Vernon has not demonstrated any of that.
