Union endorsements
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 11:53 PM by NNN0LHI
I have been involved in the political action committee of the UAW, and I do know a very little about political endorsements. First off, no union endorsement comes without strings attached usually based on performance. The candidate promises something for the unions support and if the candidate cannot come through on his part of the deal...then there is no longer any deal. We have no idea what went on behind the scenes today leading up to one union pulling their endorsement, but my guess would be someone was not able to keep their part of the deal and the deal was broken. I know nothing for sure about what happened today and chances are we will never find out the whole story. Hope this helps.

1. Not even a little.

Basically, you seem to be telling me the payment didn't go through. The check bounced? The sex toy didn't come to the hotel room door?

A candidate isn't in the position to deliver anything legislative, so what else could possibly be on the line?

You are saying all unions are corrupt? Just your union? Just the union that backed out of the "deal" with Dean? Which?

An endorsement is not conditional. Once made, that's the choice until your choice is eliminated. Or your choice exposes a breast on national television. Anything else reeks of highest bidder.

You have done unions and the union movement no service with your explanation.

I said nothing about corruption in my post. What do you got? A dirty mind? Read the post.

>>>strings attached usually based on performance<<<

Performance equals winning states in this case and so far Dean is Ø for 11.

3. A great lesson here.
Don't endorse hype. Its prudent to wait until a candidate can actually win. Dean is a blowout and any endorsements are subject to change. Dean has been eliminated,he is a loser. Its time for him to quit and get out of the way. The party doesn't need his dead weight.

4. Stuff and nonsense.
He's still a solid second in delegate count.

And this is from a Kucinich supporter.

5. Onve union alone
Shelled out 1.4 million to support Dea in Iowa, so you might want to start lookiing at where unions are spending their money (Your money)
