Poll question: "Fresh face" or "Familiar face" for 2008?
On Sunday pundits were talking on the Chris Matthews Show and Matthews (a.k.a.Tweety) decided that America is looking for a fresh face--in this case meaning Barack Obama. I'm sure THEY all want a fresh face--easier to cover, easier to mock and uncover scandals about, easier all around to build a show around. But what about the rest of us? Do you want a fresh face, particularly, or would you rather vote for somebody you are familiar with and trust? And how do you think non-DU America feels about this?

1. I won't commit to a candidate until after I know
who is running, and get to hear from them.

I'm not committed either way to an established or new candidate. I want to weigh my options, once I know who those options are.

2. Reality, the candidates are going to be decided by the media
They will tell us who is a good conservative and a bad liberal. Who cheers too loud when they win and who won a medal of freedom but still betrayed our country.
They will leave out the child molesting and the desertion as well as the connections to big money.
But rest assured they will tell you the candidates stand on guns, abortion and the gays.

3. Either, so long as the face isn't from Capitol Hill!
We keep running Senators for President. It has too much going against it from the start. Senators have to make compromises. No matter the vote, it can be taken out of context based on some amendment or rider to a bill to show that Senator So&So voted for or against some important issue.

Most voters don't take time to understand context or nuance. Senators' records too easily used against them to the point their campaign is reduced to trying to set the record straight instead of getting their own issues out there. Keeps them in a defensive, reactive position instead of allowing them to be pro-active. Enables the GOP to make points with the DEMS have no plan myth if the DEMS are forever trying to point out context of their past votes to misled voters.

Fresh or familiar matters not. Just nominate someone with executive experience and not a congressional legislative record the GOP easily distorts!

Then there is the 'Beltway Insider' meme.

Look at the history. When was the last time a sitting Senator was elected president? It's been awhile, folks. Think about why that is.

Besides, we need DEM Senator and Reps to stay on the Hill! Bring in people from state governor positions for your executive position.
