in lockstep. He is employing the same blame game as every other one of his similarly law breaking colleagues.
And it's "you can't make this stuff up" funny as hell.
Quick summary: Beauprez's campaign is being investigated by the FBI for allegedly accessing a protected law enforcement data base for information to use in a campaign commercial.
Apparently this data base, per both federal and state statutes, is
only supposed to be used by law enforcement personnel for law enforcement purposes. Who knew?
Now, Ritter's campaign has whipped up a commercial focusing on the investigation and the breath taking hypocrisy of Beauprez saying "You can hold me accountable" in his commercials.
Let's just see how much accountability the Congressman is willing to embrace: (for clarity, I'll highlight in
red his excuses of ignorance and blaming others. I'll highlight in
blue his personal acceptance of responsibility)
When questioned about the investigation Beauprez responded, "He came to us with information, and we confirmed that information through other sources all of which we believe to be completely legal. Now at the end of the day it's proven otherwise, so be it. But we certainly didn't ask. He came to us."
Beauprez said in a Friday morning press conference, "I am not going to confirm nor deny if the person listed in today's news reports and newspapers is the source." The Denver Post reported that Beauprez had earlier said the person was in law enforcement, but he has never met nor spoken with the individual.
During the same news conference Beauprez lashed out at Ritter, accusing him of launching a witch hunt and trying to wreck the career of "a good man who blew the whistle."
No blue anywhere, except here:
"Judgment matters and to exercise this kind of poor judgment and use this information that's illegally obtained is not leadership. And then to turn around and call him a whistleblower is to compound a very bad judgment mistake," said Ritter.
