Besides SNAFU and FUBAR descriptors, here's some useful info, I trust.
The SOS website has a "voter information search" tab; I just checked whether I am registered in the "centralized
registration database." <
http://www.sos.state.oh.us:80/sosapps/elections/voterquery.aspx> I did NOT appear.
However, earlier this week I picked up my absentee ballot at the (Cincinnati) Hamilton County BOE, where
I DO exist. I've been at this address for 35 years and have always voted, including Dem primaries.
The discrepancy between the local and Columbus database disturbs me. Nay, alarms me greatly. I am in the
process of trying to discover the root of the problem. Is it because I have a "D" after my name?
There is a 26pg pdf file of the Voter Information Guide <
http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/PublicAffairs/eVIG0606.pdf>
which answers many questions I've seen here and other blogs/sites. I'd suggest printing it out if you plan to work
polls or just FYI.
For C-Span aficionados.
1) - the last (?) Strickland/Blackwell debate will be on C-Span (one) tonight, Fri., Oct 20, at 10 p.m.
2) - the Dr. Vic Wulsin rally with Rep John Murtha, which occured last Saturday, Oct 14 here in Cincinnati at the IBEW Hall, is being shown on C-Span (one) at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday, Oct 22, and once more overnight Monday a.m. Assuming they show the entire event, it features a beautiful introduction by very recent Iraq vet Tom Cassady, remarks and observations by Air Force vet, attorney, mother and superb candidate for the Ohio House, 28th District, Connie Pillich
- you can contribute through her website. Then soon-to-be US House Rep Dr. Victoria Wulsin is introduced and gives a very effective and energetic presentation. Finally, Rep. John Murtha gives us the real scene as only a long-serving Member can. Lots of foreign press, video and print, were there. I was there...will be taping it, it was that good.
HTH to those interested...
