OMAHA NE DUers - The Douglas County Election Commission
is SHORT of volunteers on election day. I just called and volunteered. I have to take a one-hour class on Saturday at Westside High. Big Deal! That's all that I have to do and then I'll get my assignment by mail.

They asked that I pass along the fact that they need volunteers. I'm sure they didn't expect me to post it here, but I am.

Tell people that you know. I was told that people don't volunteer to help out like they used to. That's SHAMEFUL.

1. Sign up with Pollworkers for Democracy too --
You can use the P4D site to send emails/fliers to friends to ask them to volunteer, too.

Thanks for volunteering! :patriot:

2. I'm in Omaha--need more info
What sort of things might I get assigned to do? Is there a minimum number of hours? (asking because I will have to find childcare if it's during the day)

Any further info would be great. Thanks. :)

3. Call the Douglas County Election Commision, 444-8683
Hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. I don't know if you have to do the whole 13 hours or if you can only do a few. Call and ask.

They ask if you have a preference where you'd like to work. You hand out ballots or take them from the voters primarily. (Happily we still have paper ballots.)
