Need help with the Military Commission Act of 2006, specifically…
Does it really apply to everybody including American citizens? I quickly read a few paragraphs of the bill and it says it applies only to ‘alien illegal combatants’.

And if it truly applies only to aliens, I have a question. How does a person prove they are a citizen? Do we have to carry our birth certificate? Would a Bush thug just say that that is not a valid birth certificate? How about a driver’s license? They can be counterfeit as well.

So I don’t get it… Did the Bush Crime Family put in nice words that only ‘aliens’ can be enemy combatants only to have the sinister knowledge that anybody can be picked up and they just say “sorry you are not a citizen from what we can tell…”?

1. I think it applies to aliens or anyone they "deem" to be an enemy
including citizens. KO's segment with Jonathan Turley on "Countdown" tonight spelled it out pretty plainly that it's anyone POTUS or the SecDef considers a threat.

I carried my passport with me for years after 9/11, out of some sick sense of security. I finally realized that if someone stole my purse and my passport, I'd be sunk, so now it's in a safe place at home, where it logically should be. ("We will not walk in fear, one of another.")

2. I missed Countdown tonight but
I think they replay it at 9pm Pacific. I will have to check it out.

Mr. Turley knows his stuff so I would tend to agree with his take. No matter what, the very fact that Habeas Corpus is not granted to 'some' individuals implies that it can be misused.

4. I think the bill's "supporters" wanted the "alien" part to be stressed
so people wouldn't be afraid of it. The truth is, anyone can be branded an "alien" in this atmosphere so we're all potentially suspect.

5. SnoopDog...
Try to catch the replay if you can. The Turley segment is absolutely chilling.
