Claire rocks. Talent leans.
McCaskill was great on MTP this am. She came across as warm, smart and genuine. Talent leaned sideways throughout the discussion. His body language was consistent with someone who is not comfortable with his current position. I was particularly pleased with his willingness to allow history to judge W's greatness or lack thereof even though he supported doofus 94% of the time. I am hopeful that my home state sends Claire to the Senate. She will do us proud.

2. I missed some of it.... but
I thought Russert gave Talent way more airtime than he gave McCaskill. I will watch again on the re-airs. Did anyone else think the same thing?

3. Yes, it seemed like Talent(less) got more time.
Although I think McCaskill did well when she spoke. I wish she wouldn't have back-pedalled on her comments about Bush's handling of Katrina though.

4. I thought Claire held her own

Talent got more airtime, but he also stuck his foot in his mouth about voting for the war knowing what we know now. He also admitted that it was taking a lot longer than anyone thought, which means there wasn't much of a plan, which Claire was able to capitalize on a little bit.

Claire struggled with the comment about Katrina, but she should have had a comparison to make to prove her point. At least she said that like the war, there has been no accountability about how the money was spent in rebuilding the Gulf Coast.

5. Claire did very well.
She kept the debate mostly national and universal. Except for the Katrina lapse, she hit all of the high notes. She will make a great Senator.

Talent lost fundie support in this debate, IMO. Russert underscored Talent's flip-flopping and contortions on stem cell research. Talent said Claire was for partial birth abortion. Claire flatly said Talent was wrong, but would make exceptions for the life of the mother. She also said she was for parental notification and "safe/legal/rare."

I can't wait for the Missouri local debate Wednesday night.
