Felix Allen and Jim Webb neck and neck in Virginia race...
according to USA Today/Gallup Poll--that Zogby poll that came out that had Felix ahead by 11 was pure crap..Webb is far outpacing Felix in the money game right now, just starting to hit the airwaves with ads. Felix could be done.

1. Yeah I agree...
That Zogby poll is an outlier...I think right now Allen is probably up a couple points...

But as you point out, the Webb campaign is hitting its stride...and raking in the dough...

It's gonna be close...hopefully Kaine and particularly Warner will get heavily involved the last few weeks to push Webb over the top!!!

3. Bill Clinton will hold a fundraiser for him next week...
should rake in the dough...it's clear that the Democratic Party thinks this one is winnable.

4. Webb should start advertising heavily. I live in NOVA
and all I am seeing on TV and radio are Allen crap all day!! Webb will win NOVA but the margin should be wide to compensate for losses in central VA and southwest VA. Hampton Roads, I am not sure about.

5. I saw one last night, I think on WJLA...
we should start seeing them a lot more, but I think Webb is so far ahead in NOVA that he's concentrating in other areas right now.

6. I think you will see...
A Webb blitz here starting in a few days...he is getting plenty of case now and I think they are getting ready to use it!!!

The Webb campaign has also been very canny campaigning in rural Virginia, engaging voters normally supporting Republicans at gun shows, fairs etc...

18. I've caught several Webb ads in Hampton Roads....
Right before The View in the a.m. and during local news. I bet this is going to increase very soon !

7. That's more like it. That Zogby poll had me worried.
Now that Virginians have been introduced to the real George Allen, some are having second thoughts. Good.

8. The Allen camp won't release their fundraising numbers..
for last quarter "until all the data is in" or some crap. That tells me even his core supporters are drifting away...

9. I hate to report anything "in fairness" regarding Allen...
But I believe that photo in your post was taken because he had a bit part in the movie Gods and Generals!!!

I know how delicious it is to use it though!!! Hard to resist...but just as a way of full disclosure..

Robert Byrd also had a bit part as a confederate in that movie!

10. I don't remember Califonia being part of the Confederacy.
Allen grew up in California, not Virginia.

one of the few movies I have walked out on.

12. It needed about 2 hours cut from it....
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 02:08 PM by SaveElmer
Some of it was worthwhile...and the battle scenes were pretty good...

They could have cut the entire subplot about that family in Fredericksburg...ugh...the "lost cause" version of confederate life...

And of course the slaves are always happy people in these movies

Nowhere near the quality of Gettysburg however...a well done movie

I was an extra in Gettysburg...though I belonged to a Union reenacting unit they made me be a confederate...

Course the best thing about Gods and generals was getting introduced to Mary Fahl, who sang the opening theme. That is a great song, and induced me to go buy her album which was uniformly good!

13. Oh, I know. But I can only imagine how much
he loved "playing" a Confederate soldier. All three of his children are named for prominent Confederates, including son Forrest named for Gen. Nathan Forrest, founder of the KKK.

15. This is one race
I am totally obsessing over. I sent money to Webb and I live in CA. Allen is such a twit. My disdain for his SO CAL wannabe cowboy good ole boy bullshit knows no bounds. The fact that he's considered a GOP hopeful for 2008 make it even more imperative that he be nipped in the bud now.

Please, people of Virginia, do the right thing and get this idiot out of politics ASAP before he does anymore damage.

19. Allen's son Forrest is named after the founder of the KKK!
Are people in Virginia aware of this? Anyone who would name his son after such a man as Nathan Forrest surely does not deserve political office even as a dog catcher!

21. I know that reporters are aware of it, but no one, to
my knowledge, has asked him about it.But they should. Remember his reaction when asked about his mother's heritage? He was visibly rattled. Imagine being put on the spot about Forrest? He'd go ballistic.

22. "Senator Allen, are you still a member of the Ku Klux Klan?"
"I note sir that you named your son Forrest after the founder of the Klan, Nathan Forrest. Now that it has become known that your mother was born an African Jewess, has the Klan expelled you from membership yet?"

A question like that from a reporter should stir things up nicely I think. Since this Klan sympathizer is so clearly ashamed of his own heritage he deserves such a question IMO.

23. You think USA Today/ Gallup is a decent poll? Very right wing trending
usually. I think they have all their staff complete the polls.
