The rubber-stamp Republican congress, along with some turncoat Democrats, has done it again. They are not satisfied with enabling George W. Bush’s wars, spying, corporate welfare, and attacks on our civil liberties. They want to legalize torture, too. With the passage of last week’s torture bill, the United States now joins the club of nations such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran that implicitly allow torture.
Talking heads already claim that this bill will provide for national security. However, national security was also used as an excuse to overthrow the democratically-elected governments in Iran in 1956 and Indonesia in 1965. Bloodthirsty dictators backed by the US gave the people of these countries plenty of motivation to cultivate anti-American sentiment due to their repressive domestic policies.
If you want to stop this desecration of the Constitution, join me in voting against the frat boy’s enablers George ‘Macaca’ Allen and Jo Ann Davis come November 7.
